To be fully engaged in providing Quality/No Harm, Stewardship, and Customer Experience by: (1) maintaining knowledge of privacy issues and staying current on trends and developments in the privacy field; (2) providing recommendations, advice, guidance to enhance organization privacy compliance and mitigate risk; (3) coordinating activities for an effective Privacy Program; and (4) develop and conducting education programs to respond to associate, management, first tier and downstream entities, Demonstrates leadership in the integration and application of knowledge of health care processes, health and business records, information technology, regulations and risk management for the Privacy Team and the IDN.
Creates an engaging work climate by understanding associate feedback through effective listening, communication, and implementing actions to create a more positive workplace; inspires and motivates individuals and teams to achieve outstanding performance.
Leads team to attain department goals, continuously monitoring to ensure successful completion of goals.
Recruits, hires, trains and communicates clear job expectations for associates.
Provides regular feedback to direct reports on performance through coaching and mentoring, one-on-one and team discussions, goal setting, performance reviews, development planning and constructive feedback.
Engages with Human Resources and follows the disciplinary process with direct reports as needed.
Rewards and recognizes associates, leveraging various tools and programs.
Oversees the professional development of the Privacy Team through educational opportunities.
Keeps the Privacy Team abreast of current departmental and organizational priorities and supports ongoing Health First initiatives.
Communicates and engages proactively with staff, vendors, and other leaders; exhibits actions and behaviors that engender respect and trust from others.
Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration or in related field required; or, comparable combination of education and work experience within 6 months of employment may be considered.
Minimum 5 years management experience preferred.
Currently has, or completes within one year, advanced certification in information privacy and/or security, healthcare.
Experienced trainer with curriculum development experience.
Excellent critical thinking and decision-making skills.
Excellent skills performing comprehensive legal and regulatory research and analysis.
Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate clearly and professionally with medical staff, Health First Health Plans, HIM associates, and other internal and external customers.
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
Advanced knowledge of Joint Commission standards, state and federal regulations related to privacy
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
