The Virginia Department of Elections is seeking a highly qualified individual to serve as the agency's Privacy Officer. The role is esponsible for ELECT's Privacy Program including but not limited to daily operations of the program, development, implementation, and maintenance of policies and procedures, monitoring program compliance, investigation and tracking of incidents and breaches and ensures applicable parties' rights in compliance with federal and state laws.

Ensures ELECT meets federal, Commonwealth of Virginia and agency privacy and information security standards. The position will work with all ELECT divisions and teams, specifically technology teams and ELECT policy team, service providers and security staff of the Commonwealth of Virginia to ensure privacy and security requirements are included in all ELECT activities.

Minimum Qualifications

?? Knowledge and experience in state and federal information privacy laws, including but not limited to Personal Identifiable Information (PII), Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) laws and any other applicable laws affecting ELECT data. ?? Possess a thorough understanding of the Commonwealth of Virginia Information Security Standards (SEC 501 SEC 520 and SEC 525). ?? Demonstrated knowledge of information security programs and controls. ?? Ability to create professional written deliverables that document systems, tasks and procedures. ?? Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions and approaches to problems. ?? Ability to provide information analysis proactively and interactively with business staff. ?? Possess excellent organizational and communication skills. ?? Demonstrated skills in providing excellent service to customers ?? Demonstrated teamwork abilities ?? Ability to understand business requirements ?? Other skills and abilities include: o Critical thinking o Active listening o Judgment and decision making o Complex problem solving o Oral and written comprehension

Preferred Qualifications

? A college level degree in Data Privacy, Information Security or related discipline is required; however, appropriate experience may substitute. ? Experience in policy, legal or information security within the Commonwealth of Virginia preferred. ? CIPP, CISSP, CISM, or CIPM.
