Privacy & Compliance Operations Specialist

Reporting to the Deputy Chief Compliance Officer, the Privacy and Compliance Operations Specialist is responsible for supporting a variety of company-wide projects and initiatives addressing regulatory compliance and privacy risks. Candidates should have a good understanding of data protection principles or experience working within a regulatory compliance function, along with some expertise in program development and implementation. Knowledge of privacy and compliance regulations is a plus. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to work independently and manage deadlines, have strong research, communication and analytical skills, be thoughtful and strategic, and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.

Key Privacy Responsibilities Include:

  • Assist with privacy risk assessments to identify and address privacy risks under the supervision of the Chief Privacy Counsel;

  • Maintain global personal data inventory including coordinating input from key stakeholders such as HR, IT, Cybersecurity and other relevant business teams;

  • Maintain and manage process to respond to requests from data subjects to exercise their privacy rights

  • Assist with drafting and updating privacy policies and procedures;

  • Assist in creating and administering privacy compliance trainings and communications;

  • Assist in responding to privacy concerns and complaints under the supervision of the Chief Privacy Counsel;

  • Raise awareness about privacy;

  • Track global privacy breach enforcement actions; and

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Key Compliance Responsibilities Include:

  • Assist with compliance risk assessments, compliance reviews and compliance due diligence;

  • Collaborate with other compliance team members to continue development of key aspects of the Global Compliance Program;

  • Participate in the implementation of the Global Compliance Program throughout the company;

  • Assist with routine updates of compliance policies, procedures and processes;

  • Address questions and provide guidance to employees on compliance-related policies and procedures;

  • Provide administrative support to the compliance team;

  • Help monitor compliance with applicable policies and procedures;

  • Support the Company's adoption of tools and technologies that support the Global Compliance Program;

  • Work collaboratively with other functions (e.g. HR, Audit and Finance) and other key stakeholders to appropriately document and respond to compliance issues; and,

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in general compliance, or legal operations

  • Minimum of 1 years in privacy compliance/operations; knowledge of data protection principles

  • Intermediate proficiency, particularly in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

  • Some program management experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate level degree (Masters, MBA, JD) or Bachelor's Degree plus at least 10 years work experience

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in general compliance, privacy compliance or legal operations

  • Minimum 3 years in privacy compliance/operations

  • Knowledge of national and international privacy regulations (e.g. GDPR, CCPA) and data protection principles

  • Strong computer proficiency, particularly in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

  • Experience leveraging software and technology to help enable compliance with applicable regulations and laws

  • Strong program management experience

Relocation lump sum may be provided if you meet eligibility guidelines

Overview: The Cybersecurity and IT Compliance team is primarily responsible for managing the company-wide Cybersecurity and IT Compliance program, including but not limited to the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Section 404 program. As the Cybersecurity and IT Compliance Manager, you will be working directly with the GRC Leader and will be responsible for planning, coordinating and executing the company-wide IT SOX Compliance efforts, data privacy compliance, and other controls assurance efforts. Essential Responsibilities: In this role, you will: * Manage FTE day-to-day activities including performance reviews and hiring as needed * Coordinate with Contractor/Professional Services teams to ensure alignment with current contract expectations * Work with GRC leadership to support budget and financial processes for requisitions/PO's regarding necessary resources * Plan, coordinate, and execute the enterprise-wide IT SOX compliance efforts along with other Cybersecurity and IT Controls assurance projects including data privacy compliance * Mentor team on compliance activities and processes * Work with GRC leadership to outline multi-generational program strategy aligned to deliver on the expected outcomes * Manage stakeholder communication, escalations, and progress reporting at various levels of the organization including leadership and executives * Ensure assurance work meets reperformance standards * Identify and coordinate any findings with Risk Management to ensure visibility to leadership * Support control implementation, evaluation of segregation of duties and access controls, and process improvement * Assist in the acquisition and maintenance of corporate level certifications in areas such as ISO 27001 * Develop new practices to ensure compliance within a dynamic control environment Eligibility Requirements: * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cyber Security or "STEM" (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) majors or equivalent experience * Minimum of 6 years' experience in compliance assurance * Minimum of 2 years' experience as a people leader * CISA or CISM certification (or equivalent) * Able & willing to travel < 20% Desired Characteristics: * Proven experience in completing controls assurance efforts * Strong leadership skills with ability to influence outcomes and organize and motivate teams to attain shared goals * Excellent influencing, interpersonal and communications skills (both written and verbal) with all levels of a global organization * Self-starter - requires minimal direction to accomplish goals * Strong team player - collaborates well with others to solve problems and actively incorporates input from various sources * Applies knowledge to coach and mentor their team and others * Strong analytical and strong problem-solving skills -communicates in a clear and succinct manner and effectively evaluates information / data to make decisions, anticipates obstacles and develops plans to resolve, creates actionable strategies and operational plans * Demonstrated customer focus - evaluates decisions through the eyes of the customer, builds strong customer relationships, creates processes with customer viewpoint and partners with customers to help shape their future initiatives * Change oriented - actively generates process improvements, champions and drives change initiatives, confronts difficult circumstances in creative ways, balances multiple and competing priorities and executes accordingly * Assurance and audit qualifications (such as CISA, CISM) a plus * Proficiency with MS Office suite of products such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Word Relocation lump sum may be provided Wabtec Corporation is committed to taking on the world's toughest challenges.
