A world leader in the management and distribution of print and related offerings is seeking an experienced Estimator in its New Albany, IN facility.

The ideal candidate will have a High School Diploma or equivalent with strong math skills, previous experience in estimating and/or quoting in the printing industry and strong PC and customer service skills.

Job Summary

The Estimator is responsible for estimating complex, technical label print projects and providing exceptional customer service from quote to product delivery. The senior estimator determines the most efficient production method to meet customer's project specifications, calculates cost, and provides written estimates. Estimator will proactively follow up on quote opportunities and manage the order process when complex, technical estimates convert to orders.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions)

These are functions a qualified incumbent or applicant must be able to perform with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Estimates and quotes total costs for sales inquiry by gathering all quote specifications and determining the most cost efficient processes.

  • Creates a production plan that includes prices for materials, labor, and outside services to be used by the production team.

  • Analyzes specification of job beginning with design through completion and delivery to ensure that all information required for cost calculation is included. May obtain outside pricing from approved vendors utilizing vendors' price lists, discount terms and allowances.

  • Submits formal estimate to customer and provides the highest level of customer service throughout the quote and production process. Updates customers on production status and ship dates.

  • Works closely with the label print production team at all levels to ensure quality standards and production commitments are met.

  • Enters job data into the computer system. Communicates information to team members through memos and documentation.

Other (Non-Essential) Functions

Includes functions which are normally performed by persons holding this title. However, these functions may be reassigned to other employees as part of a "Reasonable Accommodation" under the ADA.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions

  • Environment is typically general office, though the incumbent may spend short periods in the production environment with exposure including but not limited to dust, dirt, high noise levels and variations in temperature. Occasional exposure to one or more unpleasant or hazardous conditions 6% to 20% of the time.

  • Working in a professional office environment, with regular interaction with sales team members, production staff, and management.

  • Intensive computer work and extended use of the computer keyboard and mouse.

  • This position requires the incumbent to grasp objects utilizing manual dexterity including hand/finger coordination.

  • This position requires the incumbent to experience periods of prolonged sitting and to regularly stand, walk, carry, climb, reach, and lift up to 25 lbs with or without assistance.

  • Office Equipment including computer, printer, calculator, photocopier, and fax machine.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent that may include specialized classes beyond high school with strong math skills.

  • Estimating and/or quoting experience in the flexographic print market are strongly desired.

  • Strong PC skills including office software packages and internet.

  • Excellent customer service skills with some inside sales background preferred.

  • Knowledge of the entire publication and electronic media processes.

  • Technical knowledge of printing processes and terminology, electronic prepress/digital imaging.

  • Superior verbal and written communication, interpersonal, problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Extremely detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.

  • Ability to use independent judgment and work well within a team environment.

  • Must be self-motivated.

SUMMARY: This position consists of coordinating and performing all duties associated with inks and print/tint color matching procedures to produce samples in the development phase of a new project, concept or design according to client and designer specifications. This Position requires high attention to details and quality to ensure proofs and/or prints are correctly interpreted in the final product. This individual should be able to work alone and as part of a Design Team with minimum supervision. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Ability to multitask, prioritize and handle stress under pressure to effectively manage time and conflicting priorities to meet project deadlines based on schedule, availability of tools and Designer's input * Ability to formulate, match or mix inks through the application of color tinting techniques with the goal of reproducing the look and appearance of samples provided by either a client or Designer(s) * Ability to communicate and take direction from Designer(s) and Supervisor(s) * Able to accept constructive criticism to acquire essential knowledge about the designing abd creative process used in the Industry * Examine cylinders and/or silkscreen(s) to detect flaws in stencils or foreign particles prior to production of samples * Pull proofs in print cylinders or silkscreens to check for ink coverage, density, alignment, and image registration * Observe equipment operation to detect defects and deviations and make adjustments as necessary * Inspect proofs or samples for quality of color and print and adjust (if necessary) after feedback from Designer(s) or Customer(s) is provided * Create or update project folders according to standard process including attaching samples of produced print(s), customer swatches, base film(s), color targets, revisions, number of coats (passes), and tools used in the project * Clean stations and/or cylinders after each run to minimize contamination of inks due to residual byproduct * Follow operational, safety and quality control procedures * Maintain a clean and uncluttered workspace * Aid in maintaining the order of silkscreen(s) tools and Strike-Offs in their designated storage locations * Help with station setup or changeover to exchange cylinders, as required * Familiar with the use of standard printing tools and supplies * Basic to intermediate knowledge of standard software programs * Knowledge of design software programs MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Preferred - Associates of Arts Degree in Graphic Design, Interior Design or related field and 3+ years of experience in a graphic or printing environment or Bachelor of Arts Degree in Graphic Design, Interior Design or related field and 1+ years of experience in a graphic or printing environment In addition, a successful candidate must possess basic knowledge of software design tools (i.e. Photoshop, Corel Suite, Flexo, AutoCAD, MS Visual Studio) as well as intermediate knowledge of standard office productivity tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and knowledge of design techniques, tools and principles PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are the representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
