We're looking for an experienced data protection and strategic privacy product management professional.   • Review and advise on products, services, and projects to help ensure privacy policies and processes are correctly implemented.

  • Guide definition and strategic roadmap for the development of new privacy features and capabilities working with stakeholders to define system requirements, necessary modifications and priorities in new or existing internal and external products and services.

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to align advanced technologies and Privacy-by-Design principles from the first stages of development and help ensure that the data use meets established regulatory compliance needs.

  • Collaborate with usability teams to help ensure user interface design includes user-facing privacy controls and that the controls are usable and in compliance.

  • Interact with internal privacy program managers, product development teams, legal, compliance, governance and data protection teams and help operationalize privacy.

  • Help monitor Adobe's compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and member state data protection laws and policies, including implementation of Adobe's privacy program, reviews of privacy impact assessments and other relevant data protection activities.

  • Responsible for assisting with the management of the data privacy, data protection, data usability, performance and the integrity of the privacy solution.

  • Report on compliance with the GDPR and applicable EU data protection laws to Adobe management.

  • Key point of contact for internal and external inquiries (data subjects, customers, regulators) about Adobe's EU data protection and privacy policies and practices.

  • Act as an advocate for data protection and privacy internally, leading internal training and building awareness across the company.

  • Perform all other necessary duties in accordance with Article 39 of the GDPR.


  • At least 10 years relevant work experience and a proven track record of dealing with data protection and privacy, privacy engineering, data analytics and complex internal and external data flows.

  • Experience engaging with external parties on data protection issues (regulators, customers, industry associations, etc.).

  • Experience with ad tech and privacy product counseling preferred.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.

  • Strategic thinker with excellent legal and business judgment.

  • A detail-oriented, business-friendly team player who can think creatively.

  • Strong understanding and experience with international privacy laws, including EU laws.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with a great sense of humor and commitment to professionalism.

  • Experience working collaboratively and effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • IAPP certification(s) a plus.

The position will focus on providing strategic and tactical legal counseling to the product and business teams that build tools for Nextdoor's advertisers and developers. This is a great opportunity to join a growing legal team and to work on novel issues in an exciting, fast-paced environment. This position is based in San Francisco. You will report to the Chief Legal Officer. Responsibilities: * Analyze the products and partnerships that Nextdoor builds for advertisers to ensure compliance with global privacy laws and regulations, industry-self-regulation, consumer protection laws, and other legal requirements * Counsel product, engineering, and other business teams on legal issues related to the use of cookies, SDKs, APIs, etc. * Advise our commercial legal team as they draft agreements with advertisers, partners, and publishers to ensure compliance with global regulations, including privacy and competition law * Coordinate with legal, public policy and communications colleagues on external communication, policy development, and enforcement decisions * Responsible for general corporate matters, corporate governance, securities, M&A, and other functional issues * Negotiate and draft a high volume of technology transactions, including master services agreements, renewals and expansion transactions and a variety of other commercial contracts, including data processing agreements, professional services agreements, assignments and amendments * Provide a broad range of legal advice to the legal team and senior management * Lead outside counsel relationships as appropriate * Bring a broad generalist practice to bear on the many challenges we will face together Requirements: * 8+ years of law firm and/or in-house legal work experience. In-house experience at a technology company with product counsel experience for advertising and monetization products is strongly preferred. * JD from a recognized U.S. law school and license to practice in-house in California * Experience applying U.S. and European advertising, privacy and consumer protection laws and regulations to Internet- and mobile-based advertising platforms * Experience working with mobile, cookies, SDKs, APIs and similar technologies * Familiarity with ads ecosystem and the measurement of online ads * Strong understanding of online advertising, digital marketing and related technologies. * Experience working with international offices and managing outside counsel * Outstanding communication skills, and ability to advocate for a position while maintaining collaborative and open-minded approach. * Prior management of other attorneys and other legal team members a plus * Excellent analytical and written skills, with the ability to identify problems and develop solutions. Ability to manage details while maintaining a strategic view. Ability to work effectively with ambiguity and change. Sense of humor and perspective essential.
