The Principal Software Architect provides software architecture leadership for WiFi and broadband networking devices and related cloud data analytics and visualization. The Principal Software Architect will help drive the vision for WiFi and Broadband device software architecture and related WiFi cloud analytics software.
The Principal Software Architect is responsible for analyzing complex software feature requests and specifying elegant solutions that can be developed quickly as part of a modular, reusable and extensible software framework. Project scope includes the definition of broadband CPE Access Point WiFi software architecture, architecture for other broadband CPE software and cloud WiFi analytics software and visualization,. The role requires strong leadership and communications skills. This requires the ability to work with product managers, software developers and test engineers to define high level product features and detailed technical requirements.
The ideal candidate has expert level knowledge and experience in WiFi including 802.11 mac layer mechanisms and protocols, WiFi airtime management and QOS, WiFi steering using 802.11k and 802.11v, 802.11r, optimal channel selection, DFS, EasyConnect/DPP, WiFi Extenders, 802.11ax, WiFi telemetry data collection, and automated analysis of WiFi conditions. The ideal candidate also has expert level knowledge and experience in broadband gateway technology including IPv4, IPv6, TCP/IP, UDP/IP, DHCP, DNS, Routing, VLANs, IGMP, MLD, GRE tunneling, TFTP, FTP, NTP, DOCSIS, EPON, GPON, DSL and cloud management of devices for service provider networks. The ideal candidate has previous experience in software development with coding in C/C++, scripting languages, json, and experience with open source software for broadband internet gateways. The ideal candidate has software architecture experience including definition of modular software architecture, abstraction APIs, definition of detailed software requirements, definition of software tests and software contributions to open source.
A proven track record of passionate, dedicated leadership in a fast paced professional environment is a must. Experience in agile software development and deployment is a plus.
Function as a WiFi subject matter expert
Define broadband CPE software architecture for WiFi and other broadband CPE topics
Work with Product Managers, internal/external software development and test engineers and the open source community.
Work with key internal and external stakeholders to define the priority of new initiatives.
Provide leadership as assigned and support industry forums and standards activities.
Communicate with stakeholders including development teams, operations, product and Senior Leadership as required.
Bachelors degree or equivalent plus 11-15 years experience or Masters Degree plus 8-10 years experience in the industry with proven success; Masters Degree preferred; BS or MS in Engineering Sciences, Computer Science, Physics, Math or related area preferred
