Job Description

Principal Virtualization Automation Engineer - Telecommute

The focus of the Principal Virtualization Engineer will entail the engineering and support of all the virtualized and physical servers across multiple data centers, and additionally administer the operating systems and core applications while ensuring the environment is managed to meet best practice standards and agreed service availability (SLA's).

This role will assist with maintaining the enterprise virtualization environment (VMware), including troubleshooting, performance monitoring and optimization, capacity and continuity planning. Supervises and develops multi-platform converged enterprise engineering solutions targeted to meet existing, enhanced, and new platform solutions for business and infrastructure services. Recommends cross-functional team targeted for system enhancements for system performance, reliability, scalability, and capacity. Evaluates product and service solutions.

Requirements:

  • Support/Automate the installation, optimization, troubleshooting, and maintenance of VMware systems and components

  • Planning, execution, and control of project-relate tasks and activities.

  • Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and complex problem resolution on issues related to environment performance and stability.

  • Responsible for server hardware configuration, installation and modification experience required.

  • Lead automation of enhancements, procedures and processes

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience

  • 7 years of experience within a total IT environment

  • 7 years experience with the design, development and support or technology infrastructure

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Server Architecture

  • Virtualization (vmWare)

  • ESXi systems administration

  • vRealize Operations

  • vRealize Automation

  • vRealize Orchestrator

  • ESXi Auto-Deploy

  • vSAN

  • UCS, HCI, Bare-Metal (x86)

  • Influx DB

  • Grafana

Subject matter expert in:

  • Process automation and enhancement

  • Scripting/Programming (Python, Powershell, etc)
