Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is seeking a Principal User Experience Web Designer / Developer to support a NG DoD program in Herndon, VA. The new team member will be part of the Engineering & Sciences (E&S) Eastern Region homeroom. Our team is chartered with providing the skills and innovative technologies to design, develop, produce and sustain product lines across the enterprise while providing a decisive advantage to our customer's missions. The candidate will be a self-starter and will be expected to manage and complete their tasks in a fast-paced results driven environment.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for analysis, requirements gathering, UX design, front-end development, testing, and documentation on application web design

  • Keeping up with the latest trends while remaining rooted in solid UX design principles

  • Work in close collaboration with external customers and internal development team to conduct user interviews and chair user story discussion meetings

  • Analyze UX requirements and bridge gaps between requirements and implementation

  • Research, design, and develop a consistent look & feel for existing and new DoD applications under the program umbrella

  • Provide UX technical guidance and insight into all development phases to optimize the interactive user experience

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS or equivalent in Computer Science or related field and a minimum of 5 years of experience

  • Experience with User Experience research, design and development

  • Experience working on UI front-end development

  • Experience with various Content Management Systems, HTML, CSS, Javascript etc.

  • Experience in conducting user interviews, facilitating user requirement discussions and analysis, bridging gaps between user requirements and technical implementation

  • Analytical and research skills

  • Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous Knowledge or Experience with Army Equipping Enterprise System (AE2S) and Army G-8

  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and other industry-standard design tools

  • Experience with software development life cycle

  • Experience with wireframes, interaction patterns and detail workflow

  • Knowledge of translating design into web prototypes

  • Knowledge of version control software (Github, SVN etc.), ticket tracking system (JIRA, HP ALM etc.)

  • Experience working with IDE (JDeveloper, Eclipse etc.)

  • Experience with Application Servers, such as Weblogic, Tomcat etc.

  • Knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS)

  • Knowledge of Windows, Linux Operating Systems

  • Knowledge of DoD financial processes
