About the Role
RPMGlobal is currently seeking an experienced Principal Underground Mining Engineer to join our Advisory Metals Division. The role is primarily responsible for the provision of consulting services to our clients and requires a minimum of 15 years underground mining engineering experience, including experience in a variety of metals commodities.
It is essential the candidate has on-site experience at an operating mine and study management experience whilst prior exposure to a consulting environment would be advantageous.
This role will allow the successful candidate to rapidly gain experience across numerous commodities and study types whilst working with a team of leading specialists in all aspects of the mining value chain. An interest in working on projects globally is key to this role along with a willingness to collaborate with Clients and colleagues from varied cultural backgrounds.
This is a permanent, full-time role that can be based out of RPMs Denver or Toronto office. Regular domestic and international travel is a requirement of this role.
Work as part of the global team on consulting projects such as feasibility studies and due diligences.
Ensure client requirements are adequately defined and recorded.
Verify the scope of work and deliver outcome on time.
Produce relevant mine planning outputs, including but not limited to:
Pit/Stope optimisations (using software such as Whittle Pit Optimiser, NPV Scheduler).
Practical detailed underground mine designs.
Primary underground ventilation design.
Strategic options analysis.
Development of practical and achievable mining schedules.
Equipment selection and fleet estimation.
First principle mining cost modelling.
Technical report writing.
Presenting study outcomes to clients.
Tertiary Qualification in Mining Engineering.
10 + years' experience in the mining industry composed of onsite and consulting roles.
High performance, technically strong, self-motivated individual.
Extensive periods at multiple mine sites in technical and production roles.
Previous experience in planning and operation of underground mining engineering functions on-site.
Computer literacy with mainstream mine design software such as Surpac, Maptek, Whittle, Deswik, MS Office and RPM's other proprietary software.
Have experience contributing to a broad range of project documentation i.e. reports, feasibility studies, etc.
Knowledgeable of business principles and financial modelling.
The ability to communicate complex solutions to a variety of customer stakeholders, from technical to non-technical.
Strong command of the English language in both verbal and written form.
Bilingual would be highly regarded (Spanish, French).
Willingness to learn.
Must be legally entitled to work in the USA or Canada and travel overseas.
Post-graduate qualifications in business studies or similar is advantageous.
