Principal Training Documentation Specialist/IACUC Coordinator

Basic Functions:

Job duties will include but are not limited to functioning as the IACUC Coordinator for the Institute, assisting in the development, management, and monitoring of a technical training program compliant with the requirements of the Animal Welfare Act, Veterinary Care Manual, IACUC Manual and relevant MRIGlobal SOPs and associated documentation of the same. Specific tasks assigned typically depend upon the needs of the division and the individual's training and experiences.

Success Factors:

Candidates will be expected to work well in a team environment. Applicant is expected to be detail-orientated, can create, follow, and review standard operating procedures, health, and safety guidelines, and work with minimal supervision to perform routine and non-routine tasks. Excellent oral and written communication skills are desirable. Must be able to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Applicant should be well organized, analytical, and flexible to adjust priorities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent plus a minimum of 6 years of college or relevant experience.

  • Able and willing to work a flexible schedule to include weekends, holidays, and occasionally evenings

  • Previous experience with Institutional Animal Care and Use Committees (IACUC) as a member or coordinator.

  • Familiarity with the requirements of the Animal Welfare Act

  • Ability to work in a laboratory environment while wearing a respirator as necessary

  • Ability to work on your feet for some of the work shift

  • Experience using PC and standard software programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Experience in a laboratory environment handling animals and performing complex technical procedures

  • Experience with both rodents and non-rodent species

  • Experience with anesthetics and anesthesia

  • U.S. Citizenship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related study area

  • Registered Veterinary Technician

  • Previous CRO experience
