Engineers in the Engineering Services organization collaborate across all Product Development & Engineering functions. They are responsible for research, design, development, quality assurance, reliability, and testing engineering duties across all the Product Development and Engineering sub-families.

As a Principal Tooling Engineer within our New Product Introduction team, your primary responsibility will be to collaborate with Hardware Engineering, Strategic Sourcing, and our tooling partners to design, produce, and qualify mass production tooling at our partners' manufacturing sites. This role will ensure the creation of the highest-quality tooling and execution that provides seamless demand support.

What you'll do

  • Design for Manufacturing: Must have extensive experience with CREO 3D modeling.

  • Must have extensive experience with Moldflow, that can perform Expert Level MoldFlow simulations to influence material selections, gating schemes / tool designs etc., and to provide detailed presentations to convey design intent to both suppliers and internal teams.

  • Review and advise on part print creation using GD&T principles to facilitate logical and efficient inspection criteria.

  • Working with Strategic Sourcing to generate tooling cost models for initial manufacturing and subsequent ECNs for all custom tooling

  • Tooling Approvals: Manage digital information regarding all tooling to verify compliance to spec. This includes 3D design review and approval for primary tooling, as well as all ancillary pre- and post-process fixtures such as end-of-arm tooling, load cells, CNC fixtures, paint mask tooling, inspection fixtures, etc.

  • In region FOT Coverage: Travel to regional sites abroad to assist in tooling bring-up, proving targeted quality specifications are met, and provide approval of parts for ship-to-build quantities

  • Change Management: Coordinate engineering changes between mechanical teams and relevant suppliers to meet goals for spec compliance, cost targets, and build schedules

  • Perform process optimizations when needed using statistical methodology.

  • Create, manage, and publish project schedule metrics to upper management in proper time cycles
