What is the opportunity?

By fulfilling the role and mandate of the Principal Technology Strategist for RBC US initiatives, the organization will achieve unified capabilities, improved operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and competitive advantage in the US Marketplace. This will ultimately contribute to RBC's overall success and growth in the US Market. Enhance efficiency of specific business functions, risk management capabilities, and operational efficiency through the strategic application of technology solutions across US lines of business. You will be responsible to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards while delivering innovative and scalable technology solutions. Foster collaboration and innovation across RBC US to drive the evolution of mandated capabilities and deliver value to clients and stakeholders.

What will you do?

Synergy Upliftment and Growth Acceleration: Focus on fostering synergies among US LOB operations and accelerating growth by leveraging collective strengths, resources, and expertise. It aims to optimize collaboration across business units to drive efficiency, innovation, and market expansion.

Enabling Synergies and Business Growth: Ensure technology initiatives closely match RBC US's strategic objectives and core functions. Through collaboration, clear roadmaps are defined to optimize operations, enhance client experiences, and drive revenue growth.

Collaboration, Partnership, and Innovation: Focus on forging strong relationships with all stakeholders including FinTech companies, industry partners, and RBC COEs. By fostering a culture of collaboration, RBC US can tap into all internal and external expertise, cutting-edge technologies, and navigate reg landscape more effectively. This approach enables RBC US to stay agile, innovate faster, and deliver value-based solutions to clients while mitigating risks and ensuring compliance.

Building a Premier Technology Workforce and RBC US Brand: Build a premier technology workforce and brand in the US to position RBC US as an employer of choice in the technology sector and cultivating a strong reputation for its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. This prong focuses on developing initiatives to attract top-tier talent, showcasing the bank tech brand, and investing in employee development programs to ensure existing talent is equipped.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or related field; master's degree in FinTech or MBA preferred, with 12-15 years of experience in engineering leadership, technology strategic planning, and enterprise level system development in the financial tech/service industry.

  • Enterprise-Level system Building: Solid background of designing, building, and leading development of enterprise level systems, including experience in system architectures, scalability, integration, rationalization, and performance optimization.

  • Business Acumen: Understanding of core banking, capital markets, cash management, payments, and myriad of business processes, industry trends, and competitive landscape to inform technology strategies.

  • Vendor Management: Experience in vendor management to evaluate and select technology vendors, negotiate contracts, and manage vendor relationships.

  • Data Analysis: Proficiency in data analysis techniques to drive insights from the data and inform decision-making.

  • Technical Proficiency: Understanding of current and emerging technologies relevant to the banking industry, such as cloud computing, cybersecurity, AI, and data analytics.

  • Strong understanding of business processes, industry trends, and emerging technologies relevant to financial services' industry.

  • Knowledge of modern banking platforms and technologies, including digital banking, payment processing systems, API integrations, and fintech solutions.

The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $160,000-$250,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate's experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs. This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
