This role is on the Amazon Air Science & Technology Global Product team that focuses on developing and supporting optimization for planning, routing, operations, topology, resource planning, pricing and automation.

The team is looking for an entrepreneurial, innovative Principal Technical Program Manager who thrives in dealing with ambiguity and able to independently drive efforts to build a world-class Air Transportation Management System for end to end planning to execution. This is a leadership position that requires both initiative and a great amount of analytical, technical and program management depth within and across technology organizations to help build new and leverage existing fulfillment and transportation tech build our product vision.

You'll be responsible for driving cross cutting technical solutions and plans across our internal product, tech, and research science teams and across technical and research teams with the broader Amazon transportation and fulfillment technology organizations. You'll work day to day with our engineering and science teams on technical solutions and plans and develop success metrics. You'll also work to build the end to end product and technical architecture vision for Amazon Air as well, working directly with our product, science and software leadership team.

This position involves regular communication with senior management on status, risks and change control, owning of complex org wide technical initiatives, thought leadership and a high degree of independence, ownership, bias for action and right a lot decisions.

Strong candidates will be able to understand and influence the architecture of large-scale distributed services to drive technical solutions across multiple systems, and have excellent communication skills, a passion for building simple, elegant solutions and architecturally sound systems, and a drive for results. Since this is a completely new business area for Amazon, you will have a unique opportunity to define our vision, product architecture and turning a vision into a live product.
