The Intelligence, Information and Services (IIS) team is currently seeking a Principal Systems Engineer in support of several Systems Engineering programs and efforts. This position involves working in a team environment with responsibilities in all phases of Systems Engineering development including concept development, requirements, functional analysis, design reviews, implementation, test, verification and validation. The Principal Systems Engineer must leverage multiple skill sets in areas such as Defense Avionics, Missile Systems, Radar and RF applications, Structures, embedded computing and networking.

Clearance Requirements:
Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a DoD Secret Level Security Clearance; an active DoD Secret Level Security Clearance a plus.

Responsibilities and scope include:

  • Perform systems engineering activities which may include CONOPs development, requirements development and management, systems architecture, system design, interface definition and control, integration and test to include test planning and procedure development in support of assigned programs

  • Provide leadership and guidance to systems engineering teams in the performance of systems engineering activities

  • Work directly with customers and represent the engineering technical viewpoint

  • Develop, maintain and ensure compliance for system and subsystem requirements

  • Provide leadership and guidance to a cross-functional team throughout the lifecycle of a development program

  • Prepare for and lead both internal and customer design reviews

  • Work with external industry and government stakeholders in the resolution of engineering systems issues

  • Communicate effectively with the cross-functional engineering team and with engineering and program management

  • Perform responsibilities under only general direction

Required Skills

  • Experience providing leadership to teams who design, develop, integrate, and field systems

  • Experience developing technical baselines (requirements/architecture); leading development teams; and developing and reviewing Engineering Change Requests.

  • Experience applying technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques to solve problems.

  • Leadership experience involving responsibility for technical, financial, and/or personnel resources

  • Experience briefing (both written and oral) effectively to all levels of the organization, from peers to senior management

  • Experience operating within an organization governed by company policies & procedures

  • Experience leading technical Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) and/or Trade Studies, performing Risk and Opportunity analyses, and tracking and mitigating risks.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience in development, integration, and test of large scale complex systems

  • Experience managing programs via program metrics: development, financial, performance

  • Experience in capture management: creating/reviewing RFPs, SOWs, BOEs, tech volumes, proposals

  • Experience ensuring program progress via formal risk & opportunity management

  • Training/certification and experience performing formal Control Account Management (CAM)

  • Experience using DOORS, Rhapsody, MagicDraw, or other requirements management and system architecture tools

  • Experience mentoring engineers of all grade levels

  • Familiarity with Raytheon company policies & procedures

  • Active DoD Secret Level Security Clearance

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and/or related STEM Degree with 8+ years of relevant experience (Preferred Majors: Systems, Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical)
  • Masters Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and/or related STEM Degree with 6+ years of relevant experience (Preferred Majors: Systems, Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical)
