We are currently looking for experienced Systems Engineers with the ability to assume a lead role to support our Combat Vehicle and Naval Guns International Product Lines. These roles can be on-site or hybrid on-site (50% or more on-site) in either Sterling Heights, MI or Minneapolis, MN, and will be on a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off.

As a Principal Systems Engineer, you will:

  • Lead or support systems engineering tasks such as requirements development and management, architecture development, interface development, formal decisions and trade studies, and system design development, specialty engineering integration, and verification and validation.

  • Develop and manage subsystem and component level performance specifications by managing requirements in a requirements repository.

  • Create and maintain requirements traceability in the requirements repository.

  • Develop and maintain requirements verification and compliance, and supporting artifacts.

  • Lead and facilitate architecture development of assigned system, subsystems, and components.

  • Support requirements decomposition analysis to help drive concept architectures and system characteristics. Support compliance assessments.

  • Lead development and maintenance of interface requirements and interface design information for assigned sub-system, system and components.

  • Document concept design decisions and support generating System/Subsystem Design Descriptions (SSDDs) and capability assessments.

  • Coordinate and facilitate formal decisions and trade studies to drive design and document results.

  • Provide Systems Engineering input to support vehicle level Systems Engineering activities and program milestone reviews.

  • Support the execution and monitoring of cost, schedule, risk, and Contract Data Requirement List (CDRL) delivery.

  • Coordinate Systems Engineering (SE) activities within assigned team IPTs and Specialty Engineering POCs to help influence the design.

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or closely related field and 4+ year's relevant experience.

  • Systems engineering experience performing requirements analysis, derivation and allocation, and translating requirements to viable concepts design solutions within applicable constraints and / or Experience developing architecture concepts and evaluating alternatives.

  • Ability to balance system design considering system usage concept of operations (CONOPS), performance, constraints, and logistics concerns

  • Ability to plan, conduct and document complex trade studies.

  • Ability to generate System/Subsystem Design Descriptions (SSDDs) and capability assessments per the program statement of work (SOW).

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering or Electrical Engineering with a Master's degree in Systems Engineering.

  • Experience with military vehicle systems.

  • Logical architecture experience, including development of use cases.

  • Experience in Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), including SysML methodology and tools like Cameo.

  • Familiarity with Department of Defense Architecture (DoDAF).

  • Experience with DOORS requirements management tool.

  • Have and maintain INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) certification.

  • Leadership and mentoring of younger engineers.

We are looking for a Principal Electrical Engineer knowledgeable of inverters to support the design, development, integration, and testing of critical Power Generation, Power Distribution, Energy Storage System, and Traction Controller elements used on a Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs).</p><p>The Hybrid Electric Vehicles Electrical Engineer:</p><ul><li><p>Applies knowledge of multiple engineering principles and disciplines, including customer understanding as well as in-depth knowledge of assigned product or technology area in guiding and reviewing project direction and outcomes.</p></li><li><p>Maintains state-of-the-art familiarity with industry practices, trends, and applications to enhance the organization's technical capabilities.</p></li><li><p>Conceptualizes, creates, and analyzes designs to ensure technical outcomes are consistent with customer and company requirements.</p></li><li><p>Works in an integrated product team (IPT) environment of this project requires excellent teamwork skills, technical writing skills, and oral communication skills.</p></li><li><p>Maintains a safe work environment and ensures compliance with safety objectives and policies.</p></li><li><p>This position includes working in a lab environment with high voltage and high current components.</p></li></ul><p>Required Education, Experience, &amp; Skills</p><ul><li><p>Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and 6 years of experience.</p></li><li><p>High-power experience at power levels greater than 100kW and voltages greater than 600V is required.</p></li><li><p>Experience working on design of electric or hybrid electric vehicles with a special focus on inverters and converters.</p></li><li><p>Working knowledge of Field Oriented Control (FOC)/Space Vector Modulation (SVM) control concepts and implementation used for control of DC-AC motor drives. Power levels of up to 500kW and DC link voltages to 600V or higher.</p></li><li><p>Working knowledge of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (PMSM) and AC Induction (ACI) machine topologies and control strategies.</p></li><li><p>Working knowledge of modern cooling techniques used to cool high power density motors, power electronics, and energy storage elements.</p></li><li><p>Working knowledge of Gate Driver design for MOSFET, Si IGBT, and SiC devices.</p></li><li><p>Working knowledge of Isolated and Non-Isolated High Power DC/DC converters (greater than 10kW).</p></li><li><p>Excellent teamwork skills, technical writing skills, and oral communication skills.</p></li><li><p>Ability to access and move about a large military vehicle during integration and test activities.</p></li></ul><p>Preferred Education, Experience, &amp; Skills</p><ul><li><p>Familiarity with DC and AC military specification or commercial power standards and testing requirements is also desirable.
