The Principal Systems Engineer is a recognized authority who provides technical expertise while being responsible for the system architecture, system requirements, standards and design of our technical environment.
Job duties and responsibilities
Works on usually complex development problems and provides solutions which are highly creative and ingenious.
You will aid in establishing systems philosophy and design objectives.
Works in developing systems and IT standards and base building block architectures
You will assess and evaluate new IT technologies
Contributes to development of new principles & concepts.
Conceive and develop solutions to solve business problems demonstrating analytical, design, and experience.
Identifies improvement opportunities and contributes to improvement of processes and products.
Functions independently and decisions serve as precedents for future issues.
Plans, conducts and owns the technical aspects of large, complex projects.
Frequently serves as team lead on multiple projects, often spanning different disciplines within the organization.
May directly oversee support staff and/or small group of less experienced team members.
Strong deductive reasoning skills grounded in understanding fundamentals combined with a systematic approach to getting to the bottom of problems.
Reviews, advises and designs standard software and hardware builds, system options, risks, costs versus benefits and impact on the organization's business processes and goals.
Demonstrates technical expertise to address advanced issues from within the IT organization.
Identify, analyze, define, and oversee user, customer and partner needs and translates them into technical requirements.
Assist business units in expressing their needs in terms that can be used to generate valid requirements.
Work with partners as well as technical and analytical counterparts to define constraints and develop requirements and concept of operations documentation.
Performs project assessments, scoping and cost estimates and implementation plans.
Solve problems, analyze and resolve business and technical issues.
Provides experienced technical support for server-based systems and the overall environment.
Ensures change control and other processes and procedures are followed and that configuration documentation is completed when systems are deployed or modified.
Requires technical degree, meaningful certification or equivalent experience.

VMWare 6/5 Experience
Requires minimum of 10 years of experience in Information Technology infrastructure support.
Proven project management skills; task-focused and makes things happen.
Demonstrable experience with an operating systems environment and experience with others: Windows Server OS, AIX/Linux/Unix. In-depth enterprise storage experience.
