We are seeking a highly motivated Hardware/Firmware engineer who is passionate about delivering Cloud Hardware Solutions and would like to translate this passion into a commercial reality through a Cloud services in Azure reaching thousands of customers and being implemented through millions of servers. The Azure Cloud Server Infrastructure Engineering (CSI-E) team is seeking a highly motivated hardware systems engineer to work in a team of other hardware, firmware and software developers to create Hardware solutions to be deployed in Microsoft's Azure Cloud. MS Electrical/Computer Engineering or related degree
10+ years of relevant experience in server systems/platforms design and development for enterprise or cloud market segments,
Minimum 5+ years of hands on experience either in hardware or firmware or power sub-system design and development is required.
Minimum of 2+ years of platform architecture or systems engineering experience is desirable.
Experience in evaluating off the shelf OEM hardware designs, HW/FW/OS interactions, platform config trade-offs, performance tuning and optimizations is required.
Experience in usage of debug tools like (ITP, Arium, ARM JTAG tools or equivalent).
Experienced in debugging complex system level issues related to board hardware, signal integrity, CPLD, thermal and Firmware components is required.
Strong technical communication skills (verbal and written) to interface with cross-functional technical leads within and/or outside of the organization

As a Principal Hardware Systems Engineer, you will work directly with engineers across cross-functional teams, internal customer engineering groups, Azure Software teams, supply chain teams and silicon (CPU/GPGPU/FPGA/Storage/Networking) suppliers, to define system level interfaces, develop system level specifications and deliver high quality hardware solutions into the data centers. This is an opportunity to leverage and grow your existing hardware/firmware/power design experiences and provide innovative E2E hardware solutions to Microsoft Cloud.
Primary responsibilities include:
Lead system level initial concept discussions and architect system level solutions, to meet Microsoft's Cloud HW solution key goals of performance, reliability, availability, serviceability, safety and security.
Develop node/rack system level requirements, system level architecture specs, behavioral specs, OEM/ODM design guides for different Cloud workloads, use models and DC scenarios.
Lead technical discussions and formulate innovative solutions to complex scenarios/use models of a DC deployment.
Lead debug taskforces/tiger teams to root-cause complex system level issues during development and/or reported from world-wide DCs.
Collaborate with internal and external partner organizations to ensure overall HW solution meet significant quality, reliability, and service level requirements for a cloud environment.
Architect system level test scenarios and guide validation engineers, junior systems engineers, automation engineers to execute and automate the test scenarios.
