Principal Systems Engineer - DSP

Job Summary:

The System Design & Architecture (SD&A) Directorate is the central focus for Mission Systems Integration activities within RMD, responsible for defining customer needs, functional and product architecture, requirements definition and decomposition, Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), system performance, and System Security Engineering (SSE).

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

The Principal Systems DSP Engineer will be responsible for the definition of radar system architectures, the development of concepts of operations for the radar system, the design of radar processing algorithms, and the development and decomposition of system, hardware and software requirements. Opportunities also exist to perform statistical analysis of the radar system performance using real and/or simulated data. Work is performed in a dynamic and collaborative development environment in support of multiple research and development efforts, working with internal and external customers across related product lines. Focus areas for these radar systems include:

  • Algorithm Development

  • Signal Processing and Waveform Design

  • Electronic Protection Methods

  • Phased Array and Digital Beamforming Technology

  • Radar Search, Track and Discrimination Design

  • Statistical and Numerical Analysis of Radar Performance Data

  • Target and Threat Modeling

  • Integration and test of large systems

  • Model Based System Engineering Development

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) (An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for additional years of experience as follows: Master's is equal to 2 years of experience or a Ph.D. is equal to 4 years of experience.)

  • 8(+) years of experience with signal and/or image processing systems

  • Ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance

  • Experience developing digital signal processing algorithms and techniques for interference suppression, target detection, imaging and tracking

  • Experience with digital beamforming, adaptive cancellation techniques, clutter filtering and Doppler processing, ambiguity resolution, maximum likelihood estimation, CFAR processing

  • Ability to relate bandwidth, resolution, and sampling rates in multiple domains

  • Experience with linear systems, Fourier Transforms, digital filtering and spectral analysis

  • Experience in writing and evaluating requirements for digital signal processing functionality

  • Ability to perform statistical modeling of radar signals and analyze detection and track performance

Qualifications We Value:

  • Current DoD Secret Clearance

  • Experience with advanced processing algorithms for clutter and jamming suppression

  • Experience with radar waveform design and parameter estimation

  • Familiarity with FPGA design, Phase Array Antennas and Digital Beamforming architectures and techniques

  • Familiarity with target discrimination, classification and identification techniques

  • Ability to design and analyze multi-target track filtering algorithms

  • Experience with systems integration, simulation and qualification testing

  • Experience with RF Systems Engineering including knowledge of RF performance analysis

  • Familiarity with the Navy, Air Force and Army Customers

  • Experienced with completing designs on schedule and within budget

Systems Security Engineering creates holistic security solutions leveraging Anti-Tamper (AT), Software Assurance, and Supply Chain Risk Management to support Program Protection Implementation on embedded weapons systems. Responsibilities to Anticipate: We are currently seeking a Sr. Principal Systems Security Engineer - Cyber/ISSE to function as a key contributor for the Systems Design Directorate team in the Massachusetts area (i.e. Woburn, Tewksbury, Marlborough). Join this highly visible team and perform technically challenging assignments which will directly contribute to protecting our nation and our war fighters. * Primary Cyber Solutions POC with the customer senior counterparts. * Responsibility to manage all program engineering related activities related to the development of the exportable version of the system. Authority over and direct management of the program leads to ensure that products are delivered on time, on budget and meet system requirements. * Support the development of cybersecurity requirements, design and architecture artifacts, plans, and policies. * Defining security development and test efforts implementation of security controls of networking devices, databases, operating systems, and hardware and software components * Understanding and integrating cybersecurity development activities. * Support the development of RMF documents and controls validation testing for Authority to Operate (ATO) accreditations. * Performing analysis on cybersecurity collected data and test results. * Conducting cybersecurity audits to ensure appropriate implementation and compliance of the security posture. * Conducting technical and nontechnical trade studies. * Understanding and compliance with DoD technology release and export licensing policies. Qualifications You Must Have: * Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology Engineering or Mathematics to include Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Computer Science, Engineering Science, or similar. (An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for additional years of experience as follows: Master's is equal to 2 years of experience or a Ph.D. is equal to 4 years of experience) * Minimum of 10+ years of Technical (hands-on) experience related to Information Assurance/Cyber Engineering requirements, determination, development, and implementation. * Experience in the field of Systems Engineering, including any of the following: System Requirements definition and analysis, System Test and Analysis, Systems Engineering Studies. * Experience in security systems engineering involving various computer hardware and software S/W operating system and application solutions in both a stand-alone and in LAN/WAN configurations. * Experience with security features and/or vulnerability analysis of various operating systems as defined by Intelligence agencies. * Experience with IA vulnerability testing and related network and system test tools; e.g., Retina, NMap, Nessus, Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP). * Experience with information security toolset including: anti-virus, Vulnerability Assessment, HIDS/ NIDS, host-based or endpoint security solutions, Multi Factor Authentication (MFA), and Security Incident and Event Management (SIEM) and centralized auditing tools. * DoDI 8570.01-M IAT Level-II Compliant Certification (e.g. Security+ or CISSP or equivalent). * The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance.
