Our R&D team of engineers, designers and technical experts arein the forefront of technology in the medical device industry. You will bemaking a vital contribution to the New Product Development pipeline andtransforming patient care through innovation. This is an opportunity fora key role in bringing exciting new products to market enabling significantprofessional growth.

In this role you will:

  • Contribute to architecting andimplementing Ethicon's vision for smart/connected operating rooms, includingdigital/robotic surgery, advanced surgical instruments employing smart/adaptivealgorithms to improve patient outcomes, and a connected IoT infrastructure fordata analytics and machine learning.

  • Architectsoftware and electrical designs and requirements of highly complex medicalcapital modules

  • Lead SystemsArchitecting activities across complex medical capital systems and electro-mechanicalsurgical device programs, integrating the work of multiple technicaldisciplines.

  • Manage theintegration of subsystems in accordance with program requirements.

  • Managesystem and subsystem requirements including definition, decomposition,analysis and trace management to ensure clear and unambiguous designspecifications.

  • Ensureproduct & system technical specifications and requirements areverifiable while contributing to system verification and validation

  • Createinterface control specifications including both electrical and mechanicalrequirements

  • In concertwith design teams, provide expert guidance on technical management ofrisks throughout the system lifecycle.

  • Identify,manage and resolve critical issues to minimize impact to the program(cost, time, financial performance)

  • Leveragecapabilities within J&J's Medical Device sector and throughout J&Jto identify internal and key external technologies and potential partners inbringing novel concepts to maturity.

Qualifications

  • Aminimum of a B.S in an Engineering discipline is required.

  • AB.S. or M.S. focused in Electrical, Software, or Computer Engineering/Scienceis preferred.

  • Aminimum of 10 years' experience in a New Product Development or relevantengineering environment is required.

  • Aminimum of 5 years in a direct Systems Engineering or architectural rolerequired.

  • Significantexperience with embedded electrical and/or software design is required.

  • Experienceleading and collaborating across organizational boundaries (e.g. projectteams, functions, and partner organizations) is required.

  • Experienceworking with system-level tools and processes used for requirementsmanagement, risk management, issue tracking or test automation isrequired.

  • Experiencewith Systems Engineering activities: requirements management, verificationor other related activity is required.

  • Experiencedeveloping and managing system and subsystem requirements is required.

  • Experiencecreating and managing interface control specifications for systemsincluding electrical, software and mechanical requirement is required.

  • Experiencewithin a medical device or other highly regulated environment is preferred.

  • Thisposition is based in Cincinnati, Ohio, and may involve up to 10% travel.
