The System Design & Architecture (SD&A) Directorate is the central focus for Mission Systems Integration activities within RMD, responsible for defining customer needs, functional and product architecture, requirements definition and decomposition, Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), system performance, and System Security Engineering (SSE).
Job Summary:
The Land Warfare and Missile Defense (LWMD) Department supports RMD by providing world class technical expertise and engineering leadership to drive the design and development of world-class Air and Missile Defense Systems, Sensors, and Effectors. The LWMD department leads all aspects of Systems Engineering that drive the development of complex systems to support RMD's Land Warfare and Air Defense (LWAD) and Strategic Missile Defense (SMD) mission areas from our Huntsville, AL location.
LWMD Department Systems Engineers solve technical challenges at the System of System (SoS), System, Subsystem, and Component levels. Key technical domains include: Architecture, Requirements, Interface Definition, Radar Systems, Effector Systems, Battle Management, Command and Control, Communications, Network Design, and Battlespace Integration and Interoperability for Domestic and International customers.

Currently, we are hiring a Principal Systems Analyst Engineer for our team in Huntsville, AL.
Responsibilities to Anticipate:
Performing systems engineering and analysis of all RF sensors and / or kill vehicle performance within the Missile Defense architecture, including mathematical-based modeling and simulation in support of the Missile Defense Agency's mission area.
The selected individual will be considered a technical leader in a team environment to develop performance concepts and requirements for advanced radar functionality and performance against evolving threats and countermeasures, including track and discrimination, electronic attack, and mitigation techniques against electronic attack.
Coordinate within MDA and across industry to evaluate and bring leading edge techniques and radar capabilities into the BMDS system for consideration.
Lead modeling and simulation tasks that support end-to-end performance analysis of the BMDS.
Additionally, lead development, updating, and benchmarking/anchoring of BMDS M&S tools to support system analysis tasks.
An active and current DoD US Security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM), minimum of 8 years of experience in the field of engineering or related technical discipline.
Experience with numerical modeling and simulation capability of advanced threats using a high level programming language such as MATLAB, Python, FORTRAN, or similar language environment
Strong preference to candidates that have experience modeling or simulating missile defense applications or similar domains (air combat, air defense, intercept of ballistic targets, intercept of non-ballistic targets, space vehicles, sub-orbital mechanics, etc.).
Qualifications We Value:
Experience in radar function and performance, including tracking, discrimination techniques, and electronic attack/electronic protection techniques.
Demonstrated ability to think critically and capture concepts in papers, presentations, and discussions. Individual must possess good communication skills.
Capable of working both independently and within a small team environment.
Modeling and analysis experience in aspects of the Ballistic missile defense system (e.g., Aegis Weapons Systems, Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD), Fire Control, C2BMC, BMDS sensors (EO/IR/RF), kill vehicles, interceptors, countermeasures, etc.).
Knowledge of ballistic and advanced threat systems ((e.g., aero-maneuvering, hypersonic, hyper-glide, countermeasures, etc.), a discriminator in selection).
Systems engineering experience with large, complex systems.
Experience developing technical solutions to complex challenges.
Existing DoD Security Clearance.
