Job Description: Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.
This Principal Structural Engineer has a successful background in structure designs for electro-mechanical systems and will drive the ideation, analysis, design and development of structural systems and assemblies that must withstand application environments. It requires a subject matter expert in developing analytical models and running analysis design trades for all structural dynamic conditions to be seen by the system over its lifetime.
Developing the tools and analysis approaches to drive detailed trades on system structural design Performing multiple analysis iterations to support various layout and configuration trades to optimize for overall system design Identifying and incorporating applicable system level parameters in the requirements definition and analysis inputs Identifying applicable margins Defining test conditions and test methods, specifying test levels and durations for verification of structural margins.
Defining instrumentation for test setup, analyzing responses and correlating with analysis/predictions Compiling and documenting analysis and test results for design reviews Interfacing with multiple other engineering disciplines throughout development iterations, design, manufacturing, test, and volume production Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
