Northrop Grumman Defense Systems (NGDS), Bellevue, NE is currently seeking Principal / Sr Principal Systems Engineer with an area of focus in training and requirements. The successful candidates will demonstrate a broad skill set balanced between interpersonal and technical capabilities achieving sustainable quality products. They will have a track record as an effective communicator and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The selected candidates will participate in the entire software development lifecycle.

The candidates will work closely with other engineers in accomplishing the following:

• Providing training to the customer on ballistic missile mission planning using DARTS software.

• Receive inputs from the customer on future capabilities needed, and transform them into software requirements. This will include eliciting inputs from the customer to refine and clarify the needed functionality.

• Solve complex problems through innovative and creative solutions

• Collaborate with software designers and/or software engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of software systems

• Regularly demonstrate progress to customers

• Test existing, and new, capabilities of the ballistic missile planning software.

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Engineer Systems:

• One of the following:

• A high school diploma with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience

• A bachelor's in science degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience

• A master's in science degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience

• At least 3 years of experience in ballistic missile planning, operations, and employment

• Must possess an active U.S. DoD Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance

• Ability to teach ICBM and SLBM mission planning software, and strategies, to customer

• Ability to test planning software and provide feedback to scrum teams.

• Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with small technical teams

• Must be able to work on-site in Bellevue, Nebraska (and occasionally USSTRATCOM)

Basic Qualifications for a Sr. Principal Engineer Systems:

• One of the following:

• A high school diploma with a minimum of 13 years of relevant experience

• A bachelor's in science degree with a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience

• A master's in science degree with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience

• At least 3 years of experience in ballistic missile planning, operations, and employment

• Must possess an active U.S. DoD Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance

• Ability to teach ICBM and SLBM mission planning software, and strategies, to customer

• Ability to test planning software and provide feedback to scrum teams.

• Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with small technical teams

• Must be able to work on-site in Bellevue, Nebraska (and occasionally USSTRATCOM)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of ICBM and SLBM mission planning via DARTS

• Understanding and ability to write software requirements

• Design and plan training and testing scenarios

• Previous experience as an instructor

• Familiarity with Oracle SQL

• Familiarity with Visual Basic for Applications

• Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)

Salary Range: $92,600.00 - $139,000.00Salary Range 2: $114,900.00 - $172,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
