SAIC is seeking a seasoned senior space systems engineer and acquisition professional to provide systems engineering, acquisition strategy, and technical support to the Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center, Space Superiority Systems Directorate. SMC/SY equips U.S. forces with space control systems to gain, maintain, and exploit space superiority.

It directs the planning, development, testing, deployment, and sustainment of a complex and dynamic portfolio of space-superiority capabilities of the highest national priority. The position requires an individual with extensive experience in technical programs, technical program management, and systems engineering of large scale space and ground systems and/or new start technical demonstration space and ground systems, and manage program system safety needs. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and team skills.

In addition, the candidate will be expected to continually balance and adjust work priorities to meet short term work suspense and rapidly evolving customer needs. The position is based in Dulles, VA. Qualified applicants must possess as active TS/SCI clearance and have a willingness to consent to a polygraph examination.

Key duties/responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Perform technical support and independent risk assessment and evaluation of program management execution, technical review execution (DoD 5000.02 framework), and systems engineering.

Assess program design and viability from a technical, perspective. Coordinate Government activities and contractor, sub-contractor, and vendor oversight efforts throughout the system life-cycle. Provide technical and acquisition support to Government and contractor milestone reviews to assess progress, issues, and requirements traceability.

Responsible for day-to-day management of various System and Space Safety Programs. Ensure program level documentation is aligned with Directorate and higher headquarters guidance for program planning and execution. Develops and evaluates program level documentation for SMC/SY assigned programs in support of Directorate leadership. Must be able to work independently.

Engages and coordinates with SMC Center Staff, HQ AFSPC, and HQ USAF on behalf of Directorate leadership to resolve documentation issues in line with Directorate commander's intent and priorities. Provides leadership advice on: acquisition strategies for next-generation systems; program execution issues and recommendations; strategic messaging to key operational and acquisition government, industry, and media stakeholders.

Working location: Position is co-located with Air Force Customer in Dulles, VA



TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and nine (9) years or more experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience ; PhD or JD and four (4) years or more experience.
12 years of technical program management, systems engineering, and acquisition within the areas of Space, Space Control, and Reconnaissance. Bachelor of Science in Engineering. in relevant discipline. Active Top Secret/SCI clearance.

Desired Qualifications:
Master's Degree in engineering or a related field, Certified Safety Professional or Professional Engineer, 4 or more years of System Safety Engineering PMP certification, INCOSE CSEP, SE Certificates.

Provide component or system level design direction based on the trade study results and recommendations. 12. Create and manage changes to larger scale electrical system analytical models under self-direction that is leveraged across multiple mission areas. Participates in defining and maintaining department peer review process. 13. Support the Business Development process. Basic Qualifications: 1. A BS in Systems Engineering and a minimum of 9 years of experience or Master's in Systems Engineering and a minimum of 7 years or PhD in Engineering and a minimum of 5 years. 2. A current Secret Clearance is required to start; Must be able to obtain a Top Secret security clearance. 3. Technically proficient in the Systems Engineering discipline. 4. Experience supporting Systems Integration and Test. 5. Experience in a leadership roles supporting one or more programs and assigned staff. 6. Experience with leading testing and/or evaluation/validation processes of complete system analytical models. 7. Experience and strong understanding of the risk management process. 8. Demonstrated experience as a lead or senior contributor in the systems analysis and design process that applies advanced knowledge of technical principles, theories, and concepts and contributes to the development of new principles, theories, and concepts. 9. Demonstrated experience as a lead or senior contributor in a change management process. 10. Demonstrated experience as a lead or senior contributor in Business Development efforts.
