Position Purpose: The Principal Software Project Manager is responsible for coordination across multiple flight software programs as well as cross-functional teams. This person will work closely with software engineers, program management, manufacturing, and test to allocate software resources and coordinate schedules. This position will be responsible for tailoring our software development processes as well as managing personnel on the embedded flight software team.

Pay Range: $108,000 - $220,000

(Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Program Managers and software department leadership to coordinate schedules and allocate software development resources across programs.

  • Work with manufacturing and test teams to coordinate hand-offs.

  • Work to develop software department process improvements (software builds, automated testing, bug tracking, software releases).

  • Perform software code and checklist reviews.

  • Foster an environment of continuous improvement and drive best practices.

  • Identify, recommend, and implement processes, technologies, and systems to continuously improve software quality.

  • Ensure departmental decisions and project plans are in line with the organization's business strategy and plan.

  • Partner and collaborate effectively with all functional areas of the business.

  • Develop and present performance reports and metrics to department leadership.

  • Perform personnel management responsibilities including goal setting, performance reviews and career development.

  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications/Education:

  • 12+ years of experience working with software development teams (preferably aerospace) as a developer, manager, or team lead.

  • BA/BS degree.

  • Experience leading software process improvement - automating building, testing, and deployment (CI/CD).

  • Experience with software development tools and systems (ex. Git, BitBucket, Jira, Confluence, Artifactory, Linux).

  • Experience developing embedded or high reliability software in C.

  • In depth understanding across multiple engineering disciplines and familiarity with systems engineering methodology including requirements analysis, system trades and performance characterization.

  • Results-oriented leader with a proven track record of successfully developing people and teams to their fullest potential.

  • Proven ability to develop, implement, and lead successful strategies and tactics to improve operational effectiveness and efficiency.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Ability to work well in a diverse team environment while adhering to high ethical standards.

  • Proven ability to build strong, effective relationships across teams.

  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment with competing priorities.

  • Excellent planning, prioritization, and organizational skills.

  • Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education.

Working Conditions:

This job operates in a professional office environment, but in a manufacturing company. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines. BCT anticipates the application window closing approximately 40 days from the date the notice was posted.
