Collins Aerospace is currently seeking qualified candidates for experienced engineering project leads in our Military Avionics & Helicopters Tactical Communications and Maintenance Applications department located in Huntsville, Alabama. Teams are comprised of cross-functional engineers working in an AGILE environment (approximately 6-10 people) focused on the design and development of software only products. CAAS/Flight 2 Radio Control Solutions

  • Our signature products for Military Avionics and Helicopters as part of the Collins Integrated Avionics Systems, fielded on thousands of aircraft today, at this moment. Specific capabilities include Communications Management, Pilot Vehicle Interface, and Radio Control. Here's a couple links to more details:

Job Responsibilities:

This job is unique in that it is a project leadership role (Product Owner within AGILE terminology) with our development teams. Expectations include leading a cross-functional team daily and coordinating regularly with engineering and project management to ensure success of the product and program. This includes leading other managing aspects of quality, cost, schedule, and scope while navigating the various team dynamics present.

Other responsibilities and job requirements include:

  • Demonstrated time management skills - ability to work unsupervised, multi-task, and coordinate work

  • Succeed while leading in a team environment

  • Excellent communication (written, verbal, and interpersonal)

  • Willingness to travel (domestic and international < />

  • This position requires the commitment of professional working hours that may require the employee to extend beyond a typical 7:30am to 4:30pm workday, or beyond a 40 hour work week.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 8 years of prior relevant experience OR

  • Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years' experience OR

  • In absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required

  • Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.

  • Experience in the design and development of deliverable software (production or consumer facing)

  • Ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance (Classified as a US Person)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Defense or Aerospace industry experience is preferred

  • DO-178 or similar certification-based development experience is preferred

  • AGILE development experience is preferred

  • Project Management, Earned Value, and Risk Management experience is preferred

We are looking for a Software Track Management Product Owner to join our team to support the Army Program Executive Office Missiles and Space (PEO MS) Integrated Fires Mission Command (IFMC) Project Office (PO). Your day-to-day work will include: * Being responsible for the Prioritization and validation of the development software for the Track Management team. * Reviewing/understanding Systems Engineering concepts/designs/algorithms and providing guidance to the development team. * Working with Program management in setting priorities for the capabilities and defects for the team for each product increment and sprint. * Creating technical briefings and advisement to leadership on status and recommended courses of action, competing capabilities, performance, risks, and impacts to the IFMC mission. At a minimum you should have: * An active SECRET security clearance. * A Bachelors degree (or advanced degree) from an accredited college (ABET preferred) in engineering, the sciences or mathematics. * 7+ years combined Government/DoD experience in performing the essential duties listed above. * A strong understanding of Track Management (TM) concepts, must be familiar with current TM implementations in 1 or more of the DoD services, must be familiar with academic research in this subject. * A strong understanding of the following TM capabilities: geodetic registration and composite tracking (i.e., fusion of kinematic and attribute data from task force sensors, and the Armys external sources of data (e.g., BFT, IBS, Link16, and CEC). * Knowledge of current research in composite tracking. * The ability to improve on existing algorithms and/or synthesize new algorithms to mature the IFMCs TM capability. * The ability to work directly with the Agile software developers.
