What you will be doing:

Maturing and productizing autonomous vehicle features entails a diversity of activities. These will include:

  • Lead the definition and development of planning algorithms, integrate them into our software stack and mature them to production quality

  • Designing the overall software architecture for a particular feature or component

  • Defining and verifying product requirements through detailed analysis, testing in simulation and on the road, define and measure key performance indicators

  • Solve problems of how to combine data driven and classical solutions to create a robust pipeline that covers as many of the real world situations as possible

  • Design a system that works in multiple different settings (perception sensor modalities, map availability, environmental conditions)

  • Collaborate with a diverse group of engineers of other domains including perception, mapping and vehicle control, as well as our internal safety teams to perform safety analysis

  • Mentor and guide members of the team in their work on different planning solutions

What we need to see:

  • MS or higher in an engineering or technical field (Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, Physics, etc.) or equivalent experience

  • 10+ years of relevant experience

  • Experience as an engineering lead, driving development of complex functions or systems across a team

  • Ability to drive development of new functionalities from concept to production

  • Excellent knowledge of C/C++, along with a familiarity using scripting languages such as Bash and Python

  • Familiarity programming with GIT in Linux (Ubuntu) or another Unix based system

  • Ability to think analytically and solve technical problems in a compute constrained system

  • Comfort with an Agile/Scrum software development environment

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast paced environment, as well as give technical guidance to junior engineers

  • Excellent communication skills

Ways to stand out from the crowd:

We would love to see a track-record of working on and shipping products. We definitely want to hear from you if your background includes one or more of the following:

  • A background in automotive systems, including system architecture and CAN communication

  • An expertise in fundamental physics - kinematic and dynamic models of rigid bodies

  • Expert level understanding of control systems (optimal, adaptive, fuzzy, model predictive, robust, etc.) and planning algorithms (A*, D*, RRTs, probabilistic roadmaps, etc.)

  • Proven experience building safety critical software architectures

  • Prior experience in delivering a product-level planner for active safety or autonomous driving functions

  • Knowledge of CUDA is a plus

With highly competitive salaries and a comprehensive benefits package, NVIDIA is widely considered to be one of the technology industry's most desirable employers. We have some of the most forward-thinking and hardworking people in the world working with us and our product lines are growing fast in some of the hottest fields such as virtual reality, deep learning, artificial intelligence, graphics virtualization, photo realistic rendering and more. Come join us at NVIDIA!

VIEW JOBS 7/17/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-10-15T00:00 We are now looking for a Senior Computer Vision Engineer for Autonomous Vehicles. Intelligent machines powered by Artificial Intelligence computers that can learn, reason and interact with people are no longer science fiction. Today, a self-driving vehicle powered by AI can meander through a country road at night and find its way. An AI-powered robot can learn motor skills through trial and error - this is truly an outstanding time and the era of AI has begun. Image recognition and speech recognition - GPU Deep Learning has provided the foundation for machines to learn, perceive, reason and tackle problems. The GPU started out as the engine for simulating human creativity, conjuring up the amazing virtual worlds of video games and Hollywood films. Now, NVIDIA's GPU runs Deep Learning algorithms, simulating human intelligence, and acts as the brain of computers, robots and self-driving vehicles that can perceive and understand the world. Just as human imagination and intelligence are linked, computer graphics and AI come together in our architecture. Two modes of the human brain, two modes of the GPU. This may explain why NVIDIA GPUs are used broadly for Deep Learning, and NVIDIA is increasingly known as "the AI computing company." Our team is building the Perception component of NVIDIA DRIVE AV. We are seeking the best engineers & scientists with a background in computer vision, LiDAR perception, deep learning, sensor fusion, SLAM, and other related areas, who are passionate about solving problems for self-driving cars. Are you interested in inventing human level AI for navigation in the unconstrained world under any conditions? If so, join us! What You'll Be Doing * Develop state-of-the-art 3D computer vision, LiDAR perception and mapping algorithms for autonomous vehicles. * Take algorithms from initial evaluation and experimentation all the way to shipping them as part of NVIDIA DRIVE AV and related products. * Work on areas such as perception, mapping and localization using a variety of sensor modalities (Camera, LiDAR, Radar, IMU, GPS, Odometry, etc.). * Work on Object Detection, Classification and Tracking, SLAM, Sensor Fusion, Bayesian Approaches, etc. * Help solidify existing algorithms, and work with large amounts of real and synthetic data to continuously improve the algorithmic and computational performance. * Develop highly efficient product code in C++ and make use of high algorithmic parallelism offered by GPGPU programming (CUDA). * Produce code and designs following automotive quality and safety standards. What We Need To See * MS degree in Engineering or equivalent experience. * 6+ years of relevant industry work experience. * Experience building robust software. * Strong C++ skills. * Strong experience in computer vision. * Passionate about robotics and autonomous vehicles. * Strive to learn new things and like solving hard problems. * Comprehensive math knowledge. * Good communication and analytical skills. * Ability to work with multiple teams. Ways To Stand Out From The Crowd * Experience developing real-time LiDAR Perception and/or Computer Vision systems * Software development on embedded or automotive platforms. * Experience with GPGPU programming (CUDA). * PhD degree and 8 plus years of industry experience We believe that realizing self-driving vehicles will be a defining contribution of our generation (e.g. traffic accidents are responsible for ~1.25 million deaths per year world-wide). We have the funding and scale, but we need your help on our team. NVIDIA is widely considered to be one of the technology world's most desirable employers with some of the most brilliant and talented people in the world working here. If you're creative and autonomous, we want to hear from you! NVIDIA is committed to fostering a diverse work environment and proud to be an equal opportunity employer. As we highly value diversity in our current and future employees, we do not discriminate (including in our hiring and promotion practices) on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, gender expression , sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, disability status or any other characteristic protected by law. #deeplearning Nvidia Redmond WA
