Who You Are

We are seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join the Critical Start Technologies Private Ltd. team, operating under the Critical Start umbrella, for our India operations. As a Principal Software Engineer on the User Experiences Team, you will design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance mobile and browser-based end user experiences, including supporting APIs, used by Critical Start customers and team members. You will also provide technical leadership to the team.

Our engineers are expected to be versatile, display leadership qualities, be skilled at working through ambiguity, and enthusiastically deliver delightful solutions for end users while continuously pushing technology forward.

What You Will Be Doing?

• Develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance end-user experiences for customers and team members.

• Lead and participate in reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide on solution architecture design.

• Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, accuracy, maintainability, testability, and efficiency) and quality of deliverables.

• Contribute to existing documentation or educational content. Adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.

• Work with development teams and product managers to ideate software solutions.

• Build the front-end of applications through appealing visual design.

• Build features and applications with a mobile-responsive design.

• Write technical documentation.

• Triage, resolve, and determine the root cause of production issues. Form action plans to prevent or minimize the impact of the same issue in the future.

• Train junior software engineers to ensure they understand organizational processes and technologies.

• Collaborate closely with cross-functional and management teams.

• Maintain a clear understanding of the company's software development policies and culture among team members.

• Compile, analyze, and summarize information regarding development and service issues.

• Take ownership of developed applications and systems.

What You Will Bring?

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

• 8+ years of experience in developing and designing applications.

• Experience in leading features and guiding junior software engineers.

• 6+ years of experience in full stack development using Django, Python, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, and UI frameworks (Vue, React, Angular, etc.).

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

• 4+ years of experience with data structures and algorithms in an industry setting.

• 4+ years of experience working in an agile environment in an industry setting.

• 4+ years of experience with Git workflow, including pull requests.

• 4+ years of experience implementing APIs to support UI experiences, preferably hosted in the public cloud, with a strong preference for experience in AWS environments.

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience developing accessible and responsive mobile and browser-based user experiences.

• Experience managing AWS resources (S3, EC2, ECS, etc.) using Terraform.

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
