Job Description

  • Collaborate with a large team of EDA professionals across multiple cultures to create & deliver best in class next generation of software for physical IC applications

  • Will develop, and debug, highly efficient and scalable algorithms and C++ and/or Python source code for Design Rule Checking

The Position Requirements are

  • Bachelors in CS, EE, or a related field and 5+ years of professional software development experience; or MS and 3+ years of professional software development experience; or PhD and 1+ year of professional software development experience

  • Expertise in C++ development

  • A good understanding of efficient software implementation concepts

  • Expertise in one or more of the following: Computational geometry / numerical analysis / graph theory / applied linear algebra / parallel and distributed algorithms

  • Python experience is a plus

The Systems R&D team in the Aerospace, Defense and Government (ADG) Business Unit focuses on the design and development of components and systems in key application areas, including: avionics, communications, navigation, Signals Intelligence (SIGINT), Electronic Warfare (EW) and RADAR. Leveraging NI's portfolio of PXI RF instruments, modular FPGA co-processors, software-defined radios (USRP products), and software tools (LabVIEW, LabVIEW FPGA, open source), the Systems R&D team creates IP at various levels to provide differentiated system-level offerings. The Role: The Principal Software Engineer will be responsible for the research, design and development of software IP addressing various customer requirements in the focus applications of the ADG Business Unit involving RF and Software-Defined Radio (SDR). They will work closely with domain experts within BU to define and execute on the implementation strategy of critical software components, system-level software architectures and APIs/User Interfaces (UIs). They will mentor junior engineers in the group on coding practices, measurement science, and test methodologies. The role demands a deeply technical individual with strong teamwork skills that can think at the system level while providing a best-in-class software experience for NI customers. Core Job Responsibilities * Research, design, implement and test software features and capabilities for new and existing offerings in key application spaces * Independently lead the feature(s) through release. * Contribute to product design and code review efforts with the rest of the team. * Develop tools and infrastructure to improve engineering productivity * Become a leading technical expert on key technologies in this space Basic Qualifications * Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Computer Science * 15 years of industry experience with a demonstrated ability in problem-solving, effectively diagnosing technical issues, and proposing reasonable solutions. * Proficiency in Text Based Programming languages, preferably C or C#, and development experience on Windows/Linux platform. * Experience working with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment tools & processes * Strong experience with NI HW platform * Experience in RF measurements (spectral, time-domain, modulation) * US Citizen and ability to qualify for DoD Clearances Preferred Qualifications * Active DoD Secret or Top Secret, SCI, SSBI clearance * Experience with NI software tools (i.e. LabVIEW, LabVIEW FPGA, TestStand, LabWindows CVI). * Hands on use of NI Hardware Platforms. * Understanding of Agile software development principles.
