The Basics:

The Principal Security Architect will work with Sales, Marketing and Engineering in order to develop and communicate Tanium's viewpoint(s) on cybersecurity, privacy and information protection, and the intersection of those issues with IT Operations. This role provides the opportunity to develop and support a platform-based message for cybersecurity across the Tanium customer base and mainstream/technology media.

Reporting to the CISO, the Principal Security Architect will extend the capabilities within the Office of the CISO (OCISO) to address the growing customer demands for executive advisory engagement across North America.

What you'll do:

  • Establish and maintain relationships with customer leadership in key accounts.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization in order to develop viewpoints on relevant industry trends.

  • Author blogs, white papers, and editorials.

  • Work with our public relations team to support media requests.

  • Assist the Sales and Technical Account Management (TAM) teams with customer introductions and meetings.

  • Collaborate with the internal security and engineering teams to develop new content for the Tanium platform, opening new markets or satisfying customer requirements.

  • Maintain relationships with customer leadership in key accounts.

  • Collaborate with channel and technology partnership teams to appropriately position Tanium services as part of a joint go-to-market.

We're looking for someone with:

  • Education

  • BS degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or equivalent experience required

  • Experience

  • 10+ years of experience required in architecture, design, and operation of enterprise cybersecurity technologies

  • 10+ years of experience required in ensuring technical solutions meet business requirements and alignment with organizational strategy

  • Deep knowledge of two or more fundamental cybersecurity domains: Infrastructure Security, Application Security, Incident Response and SOC Services, Cloud Security

  • Experience with current and emerging regulatory standards pertaining to information protection and data privacy

  • Possesses industry recognition as a valued contributor to the cybersecurity architecture community

  • Experience authoring industry perspectives and presenting at conferences.

  • Experience in building target operating models, reference architecture and business process modeling.

  • Experience in applying cybersecurity risk management frameworks across enterprise environments.

The Role: As member of security technologies team, Principal security architect is responsible for leading the development and implementation of security architecture across Sensus/Xylem technology platforms. This position will work across software development teams to identify component and system level technical risks, identify and evaluate critical failure points, determine technical security controls to mitigate risks, prioritize and schedule controls with product development timelines, and work with cross functional teams to implement features according to product maps. Commensurate with experience, the position may be filled either at the Principal Architect or Senior Architect level. Location: Raleigh or other Xylem locations preferred, or Remote with 25-30% travel to Raleigh. Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities: * Provides architectural guidance and leadership on best practices regarding security in software development, user interface design frameworks, high performance messaging solutions, server side development, integrations and tools and technologies * Works with the business, operations and systems team to identify the right architecture for implementing new solutions, products and modules. Develop, implement and maintain product security strategy for the entire product portfolio covering IoT, SmartGrid suites * Contribute to the development and evolution of the application and infrastructure security reference architecture. Develop, implement and maintain the security architecture for Sensus/Xylem product portfolio * Risk analysis, risk management, and communication of results with software/hardware development managers * Champion the Sensus's security SDLC. This includes security testing, penetration testing identifying and fixing vulnerabilities in software and applications on all Sensus products. * Perform vulnerability research, assessment and management , serve as technical security/risk advisor on all new technology/developed by Sensus * Perform threat modeling, static application security testing, code reviews, and secure design reviews for high risk applications * Determine testing requirements and strategies, automate security testing using a variety of scripting and open source tools * Implement or manage the implementation of common application security controls, ensuring that practices meet software certification processes * Assist developers in remediating vulnerability findings by providing line-by-line guidance * Provide training and education to developers on software security best practices. * Ability to present complex security topics to wide range of internal and internal audiences (engineers to executives) * Develop architecture, testing and auditing of Cloud computing, and Big Data platforms * Maintain knowledge of current and emerging technologies / products / trends related to security architectural solutions * Act as a Subject Matter Expert in the discovery and investigation of critical security vulnerabilities Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification: * BSCS or equivalent with 15 year's experience * Demonstrated programming expertise - Java, C# * Demonstrated expertise in product/application security architecture - Service oriented architecture (SOA), Network security, application security, web services, Angular, JavaScript * Deep technical experience in Security/Identity Management including SSO, LDAP, and Provisioning * Strong software development skills - Agile, waterfall.. * Strong operating systems knowledge - Windows (all flavors), Red Hat Linux, Debian Linux * Security audit, Vulnerability assessment and packet analysis skills * Scripting knowledge - Linux scripting (bash), Windows scripting, Python or Perl * Encryption expertise, HSM (Hardware Security Modules) * Database knowledge - Postgres, MSSql, Oracle, Hadoop * Good analytical and debugging skills; creative ability, good organizational skills. * Self-motivated; ability to work under general supervision; receptive and supportive of team efforts * Excellent written & oral communication skills and coordination with peers, end-users, and management.
