Our Nestle R&D facility is charged with driving innovation and global mastership in the baby food category to meet the unique nutritional and developmental needs of infants and toddlers.
We are currently recruiting for a Principal Scientist, Thermal Processing at our Fremont, Michigan location.
Main Purpose of Job:
Focus will be on ensuring the safety and quality of shelf-stable infant/toddler foods produced via aseptic, retort, and hot-fill methods as the Thermal Processing Authority (TPA) for Nestle NDC Fremont and through thermal process support for NPTC Nutrition.
NDC Fremont project support
Establish aseptic, retort and hot-fill thermal processes in support of NDC Fremont led Innovation and Renovation projects
Design and conduct process establishment studies for new technologies
Coordinate heat penetrations, temperature distributions, microbiological challenge studies and thermal process control validations as required
Collaborate with Quality and Food Safety to determine critical and operational thermal process control requirements
Conduct deviation analyses and recommend product dispositions as needed
Provide technical assistance to enhance technical competency, optimize thermal processes, and resolve issues
NDC Fremont Thermal Processing Authority (TPA)
Responsible for thermal process filings according to LACF requirements for the NDC Pilot Plant including maintenance of all documentation and records.
Coordinate purchase and maintenance of equipment, instruments and software needed to collect and analyze thermal process data, and to calculate or model thermal processes
Evaluate thermal process deviations to determine product disposition
Perform periodic assessments or internal audits to ensure robustness of the work processes/systems and drive continuous improvement
NPTC Nutrition Thermal Process Expert
Support new equipment validations, including microbiological challenge studies and thermal process control validations, as required
Provide support to resolve operational issues within Nutrition
Develop and deliver thermal processing standards
Proactively share Nestl and industry best practices with Nutrition business
