We are seeking a highly motivated Enzymologist to join the In Vitro Biology Group (Waltham, MA) as a Senior Scientist. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary research and development team dedicated to small molecule drug discovery. The candidate will be responsible for developing enzymatic assays for primary or secondary screening, run mechanism of action enzymatic assay to provide insightful SAR (structure activity relationship). The candidate is also expected to support screening (HTS/MTS) and be familiar with automation technologies

As an important member of high value project teams, the candidate will work collaboratively with medicinal chemists, biologists, DMPK scientists, etc., presenting his/her results at team meetings and influencing decision-making discussions. With an appropriate sense of urgency, the successful candidate will bring valuable experiences to address scientific questions, and is expected to be open-minded to learning new skills and new ways to streamline workflows and drive priorities.

Basic Qualifications:

Ph.D. with 5-7 years of professional experience developing/running enzyme assays in an industrial environment (Biotech/Pharma). Experience in variety of assay formats used in the industry and a strong background in enzymology required. Experience with Biophysics, understanding of SAR and correlating enzyme data with DMPK assays as well as background in medicinal chemistry background is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

Strong enzymology background; experience working in a multidisciplinary drug discovery team is highly desirable. Experience with assay validation in a biotech/Pharma setting is a plus.

Strict attention to detail and excellent communication (oral and written) skills are required. The candidate must be motivated to excel in both individual and team environments.

Description: DMPK Modelling & Simulation (M&S) scientists occupy high profile, visible roles within Oncology R&D. We are looking for a senior individual who has a passion for PKPD modelling and DMPK science, applied to Cancer biology, with the experience of working in both discovery and development. As the Modelling & Simulation Scientist you will provide the projects with expert modelling input into exploring PK/PD/Efficacy in pre-clinical models, in order to iteratively build an understanding of the effects on target and biological pathway to predict human dose and schedules to test in the clinic. You will also have a broad knowledge and provide overall functional input into project teams. As the Senior Scientist/Assoc Principal/Principal Scientist DMPK Modelling & Simulation, you will contribute to Oncology Projects by: * Act as a DMPK M&S functional leader for Oncology projects from discovery through development to life cycle management. * Possesses specialist knowledge in the DMPK area and is seen as a source of reference. Recognized as an expert in own field and works on difficult drug project and unusually scientific complex problems and provides solutions that are highly innovative. May lead projects, be responsible for training and developing others. Contributes to business development and will influence strategic direction. * To play a leading role in the department ensuring that state of the art M&S science is applied broadly and consistently across drug discovery and development to support compound design and project progression. * Candidate would act as a mentor to junior staff within DMPK and M&S as well as outside DMPK for scientific and career development aspects. * Individual would lead or serve on global teams and work streams related to M&S sciences. Essential Requirements: * Candidate would have a Ph. D. or equivalent in relevant scientific discipline, pharmacology, PK/PD, or chemical engineering with several years of relevant experience in drug discovery and development. * The individual should experience in DMPK M&S with several years of experience in Oncology drug discovery and development. * Extensive experience of drug discovery and development projects including experience as core team member and good understanding of other disciplines * The person should have an emerging international reputation within his/her scientific discipline and should be routinely publishing and presenting in external fora.
