Role Summary:
This is an exciting role for an experienced lab bioanalytical scientist to be part of the growing DMPK (Bioanalytical, BA) group here at Cerevel. He/she will be contributing towards in vitro / in vivo and biomarker quantitation studies along the drug discovery path using cell-culture, quantitative bioanalysis, lab automation and related lab skills, especially for early-stage programs in the company portfolio. This is a matrixed position that will involve frequent interactions with discovery research team members from cross-functional groups such as Chemistry, in vivo Biology, Translational Medicine and Toxicology. This role additionally offers a great learning/growth opportunity to improve the understanding of different aspects of the DMPK function in drug discovery.
Key Responsibilities
Independent scientific contributor in collaboration with other research functional groups supporting preclinical biomarkers and bioanalytical assays
Preparing and analyzing BA study samples and generating high quality bioanalytical/LC-MS data to support non-GLP studies, as part of a matrix environment. Also being involved in study design, in concert with all stakeholders
Basic cell-culturing familiarity to contribute with cell-line maintenance for ADME assays
Actively participate in laboratory automation of bioanalytical assays
Learn and perform new and existing quantitative biomarker assays - small molecule and/or proteins using LBA or LC/MS approaches
Mentor, transfer assay development and instrumentation knowledge to other scientists
Address complex issues related to bioanalysis working in collaboration with internal/external scientific groups for innovative solutions
Documenting the experimental design, results and conclusions in Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) and uploading summary reports to Cerevel data repository including working via our new cloud-based LIMS platform
Learn multidisciplinary activities as a representative in early research project teams to foster collaborations and lead activities in future
Authoring and presenting scientific findings at internal and/or external scientific meetings
Required Qualifications
Ph.D with 5 -8 yrs work experience, may include post doctoral experience; or BS/MS (in Chemistry/Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry or related discipline) with 12+ years work experience, preferably, in the industry
Extensive hands-on experience with LC-MS bioanalysis of small molecules will be required. Exposure to LBA approach for quantitation will be essential. Other modality experience will be an advantage
Good understanding of bioanalytical (BA) and related processes used in the laboratory as well as a broader understanding of the drug discovery process and DMPK function will be necessary
Related lab skills for this position include cell culture experience, exposure and experience in lab automation, innovative solutions to create high throughput assays, experience with LIMS systems for documentation and data archival
Experience monitoring and interacting with external CROs to outsource activities
Strong learning capabilities, high scientific integrity, good interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and in a team setting in a self-motivated way
