Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal Quality Engineer/Senior Principal Quality Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in El Segundo, CA.

This position will provide support for common product engineering, manufacturing, and qualification through structured solutions to production quality issues. Candidate will need to work well within IPT to ensure that the team is supported and mentored, as necessary, to guarantee consistent program quality. In addition, strong Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) techniques will be necessary.

Essential duties include, but are not limited to:

Develops, modifies, applies and maintains quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product.

Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place.

Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment.

Designs and analyzes inspection and testing processes, mechanisms and equipment; conducts quality assurance tests.

Reviews, analyzes and reports on quality discrepancies related to assembly, process, mechanical, electrical and electro-mechanical systems.

Audits quality systems for deficiency identification and correction.

Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements.

Investigates problems and develops disposition and corrective actions for recurring discrepancies.

Support actions associated with engineering design release, test readiness reviews, test requirements documentation, and common product lifecycle management (CPLM).

Actively participate as quality authority in program technical and engineering boards.

Basic Qualifications for Principal Quality Engineer:

  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) and 5 years' experience in quality, engineering, and/or manufacturing or 3 years with a Master's Degree in STEM

  • Working knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management tools

  • Current and active DoD Secret Security Clearance

Basic Qualifications for Senior Principal Quality Engineer:

  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) and 9 years' experience in quality, engineering, and/or manufacturing or 7 years with a Master's Degree in STEM

  • Working knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management tools

  • Current and active DoD Secret Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of Common Product Lifecycle Management (CPLM) tools with an understanding of design progression through the PDP/BTP lifecycle

  • Working knowledge of Supply Chain tools

  • Certification in Lean and/or Six Sigma quality engineering methodologies

  • Ability to obtain Special Program Access

Raytheon Intelligence and Space organization is currently seeking qualified Senior Principal Engineers in the area of space networking or space networks. This position will initiate and support projects requiring novel ways of using networking (wired and/or wireless), network science, cybersecurity technologies, and/or RF communications processing to solve space-based problems. The Senior Principal Engineer will support SWAP, performance, affordability analysis and trade studies across entire constellations including ground segment and communications payloads. This senior technical position requires a top performer with space systems domain knowledge and the ability to create new algorithms and paradigms in the areas of wireless networking and computing, software defined networking, network security (including cyber), machine learning, and wireless/RF communications in extremely constrained or hostile environments. This role requires regular engagement with customer counterparts as well as with internal Raytheon teams, and active participation in customer and program technical reviews. The Senior Principal Engineer is responsible for determining technical solutions that satisfy a diverse set of customer requirements. Responsibilities of the Senior Principal Engineer include: * Provide technical leadership on space mission communication/network architecture trades * Develop the technical vision and strategies for solving real world problem across a variety of space programs * Provide engineering and technical leadership for space systems programs from product concept, proposal development, to integration & test and product delivery. * Provide engineering authority to all decisions impacting product integrity, system performance, and system functionality. * Provide technical support in developing and maintaining the analysis to predict overall system performance * Coordinate, write, and deliver technical presentations to both internal and external customers * Mentor junior engineers Required Skills: * Minimum 10+ years of experience in Systems or Communications Engineering with an emphasis on networking * BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related STEM fields with relevant work experience * Must have technical knowledge of networking concepts, network protocol design, L2/L3 protocols, and space-based RF systems * Experience using network simulation and emulation tools * Must have direct experience with requirements development, analysis, verification and validation * Must have excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation), and experience dealing with customers, management, technical staff, and internal / external organizations. * Active Top Secret Clearance * U.S. Citizenship required as this position requires an active U.S. Security Clearance as of 1st day of employment. * U.S. Citizenship required as this position requires the ability to access US only data systems.
