Job Summary

The Engineering Project Manager, under the direction of the Group Vice President, Engineering, leads project planning, resourcing, staffing, progress reporting, people management, and troubleshooting for engineering projects and ensures project results meet requirements regarding technical quality, reliability, schedule and cost. Manages engineering and commercial projects with an emphasis on business improvement and process efficiency to improve quality and profitability.

Essential Functions:

  • Delivers projects within the constraints of scope, time and cost, to agreed levels of quality, within the organization's governance and project management framework.

  • Leads cross functional teams with members from multiple teams to success through exemplary project management techniques and leadership.

  • Responsible for ensuring project success from concept through start of production.

  • Defines scope and manages one or more projects to ensure technical and/or business objectives are achieved. Creates and maintains project management structure.

  • Helps create and refine project management processes and standard deliverables (e.g., planning templates, work break down structures, monthly status reports, risk registers, etc.).

  • Develops project plans, overall action items and specific deliverables.

  • Monitors costs, timescales, and resources used, and takes action where these deviate from agreed project scope. Ensures that deliverables are implemented within these criteria.

  • Drives a strong process orientation and a track record of reducing costs, improving profits and streamlining operations to achieve lasting financial improvements.

  • Coordinates project execution, tracks and reports on progress to project team stakeholders and management.

  • Implements innovative procedures to support business needs.

  • Completes ad hoc projects and duties or responsibilities as needed.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering. Master's degree in Project Management or Business preferred.

  • Project Manager Professional (PMP) certification preferred.

  • Five years' or more demonstrated successes in global project management, preferably HVAC-focused, delivering results by leading multi-disciplinary projects for high-performing, global, and complex durable consumer goods manufacturing companies.

  • Background in managing projects in a manufacturing environment. Familiar with Lean, 5S, Kaizen, and Quality concepts and applications including, but not limited to, the Lean Tools.

  • Hands-on professional that likely grew their career through progressive engineering assignments and complemented with demanding high-impact assignments and/or cross-functional roles.

  • Experience with project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Visio applications.

  • Ability to influence across a matrix organization without the benefit of direct reporting relationships. Excellent people skills with ability to develop and maintain professional relationships across a matrix, multi-cultural organization.

  • Travel up to 50% of the time for project support on-site.

  • Demonstrates a passion for delivering quality products on schedule and within budget which exceed customer expectations.

Northrop Grumman Technology Services is seeking a Mechanical Engineer 4 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma for support on projects associated with the design and development of communication, navigation, radar, avionics, power and/or electrical systems architecture, components, circuits, and products or aircraft maintenance. The employee will research, develop, design, and test electrical components, equipment, systems, and products for defense systems or commercial purposes.This engineer will support the Lead Engineer in execution of various program activities, to include program reviews, test procedure, report, and control plan development and review, requirements management, automated test software development, test execution and witnessing, and hardware selection and specification development. This engineer will support the Lead Engineer in the development of new business by expanding the product line with the current customer or with new customers within the Department of Defense or industry. The engineer will support the Lead Engineer in presenting company capabilities to potential customers and in the development of potential solutions to customer requirements. Preferred Qualifications: A preferred candidate will include experience in some or many of the following areas * Experience with aerospace systems * Experience with Air Force customers and aerospace industry and military standards * Active DoD Secret Security Clearance (or higher) * Experience with test planning at the circuit card, equipment and system level * Experience with nuclear hardened systems * Experience with DOORS and general requirements management best practices * Experience conducting analysis of mechanical components and structures within aircraft maintenance programs, determining effectiveness and creating written recommendations for increasing efficiency and effectiveness * Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) preferred * Previous engineering project leadership experience to include cost, schedule and deliverable quality responsibility * Contract experience to include Statement of Work and requirements establishment as well as proposal evaluations. * Business development experience covering white papers, cost estimations and formal proposals.
