Job Purpose
We are seeking talented individuals who have the self-motivation and desire to become strong leaders in their field to join our office in Longmont, Colorado. This is an excellent opportunity for an established engineer with leadership skills and least 8-10 years of direct experience in Li-ion battery design and development to join a growing international space component supplier.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Direct and lead space battery design and development and fulfill complex requirements and documents to demonstrate battery compliance to customer specifications.
Candidate will coordinate and validate project testing and analysis plans/reports against customer requirements.
Candidate will lead multi-disciplinary (thermal, electrical, mechanical) analyses and review technical reports to support programs.
Perform analyses for compliance to customer requirement including Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality (FMECA), Reliability, Radiation, Thermal, Electrical, and Stress analyses.
Communicate directly with technical personnel in customer organizations to provide product data, field technical questions, and support technical reviews.
Take lead in the development of technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity
Coordinate, lead, and direct investigations, resolutions, and product improvement meetings.
Develop new software, tools, processes, and training materials to improve ABSL technical capability
Qualifications
Qualifications
Required: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering or similar, Master's Degree preferred
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and Visio, and SolidWorks skills required. Working knowledge of Python programming language preferred.
Expertise in reviewing and responding to compliance matrices
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to supervise, lead and direct work within a team to strict deadlines
Space, Aerospace, or other highly regulated industry specific experience preferred
Knowledge and experience with lithium-ion batteries required
8-10 years of experience in design and development of highly regulated systems
