This position is responsible for support and development of construction lease exhibits, master service agreements, task orders, and all contractual obligations under Store Development and Facilities. Leads development of construction work letters, creating consistency in the landlord shell delivery, construction, and site coordination expectations. Creates standard processes and tools for project estimation, budgeting and bidding. Develops and maintains assessment criteria for A&E consultants, general contractors and service providers; ensuring adequate resources are available across the enterprise, at a reasonable and consistent cost with quality output.

Summary:

The PPM, Pre-Construction QC & Coordination position is responsible for overseeing all stages of development for assigned projects including pipeline development and major remodels. Supports the Executive Leader in cross-functional oversight of the project team through design strategy, budgeting, and overall quality control. Works in close partnership with PPM of Construction QC and Coordination throughout the life of the project. Ensures quality of design production from Schematic through Construction Document activities, adherence to design standards, and cohesive approach to design development and coordination to LL shell and exterior elements with passion for detail and eye for longevity of the delivered product. Ensures quality of equipment coordination, from tagged plan accuracy to cut sheets, confirmation of coring requirements, and timely PO execution to ensure critical path schedules are maintained through volatility of manufacturing lead times. Ensures that drops are coordinated for thoughtful execution minimizing customer view of infrastructure and maximizing use of space for functionality and product capacity. Monitors finish details, traffic flow, MEP, and shell coordination to ensure TM production areas and sales floor wear and tear are thoughtfully considered. Provides mentorship and creates a positive team environment for project teams, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability. This position can reside at global campus or any Regional Office and will report directly to the Executive Leader.

Responsibilities:

  • Independently leads complex projects requiring collaboration across multiple functions.

  • Provides strategic leadership for planning and execution activities for new store development and major remodels.

  • Acts as "right hand" for Executive leader to oversee design processes and equipment coordination from conception through finished product.

  • Ensures a consistent global approach to project development while maintaining market differentiation in color palettes and interior design for a relevant customer experience of WFM brand standards.

  • Works across projects to ensure effective coordination, budget management, task completion, and communication of progress, status.

  • Escalates issues proactively with a solution-oriented mindset and stakeholder-driven approach

  • Acts as POC and liaison for tech-driven innovations like Project Dorothy and Katherine, in partnership with PPM of Construction QC and Coordination, coordinating efforts with the project teams to meet elevated requirements with a creative approach that ensures authentic delivery aligned with WFM brand standards.

  • Develops RFPs with the project team & provides guidance through vendor selection process.

  • Ensures that project coordination has been completed with Marketing, Food Safety, AP, Tech, WFMOA, and other stakeholders as required.

  • Provides consistent and dynamic reporting to communicate progress to relevant stakeholders.

  • Oversight of AOR, supplier, and general contractor coordination activities managed by the project team to ensure expectations are met for project schedules, budgets, and quality delivery.

  • Works with construction stakeholders to resolve complex challenges by providing technical guidance and innovative solutions for design and equipment.

  • Leads quality control reviews on projects, mentoring design production and equipment procurement teams on best practices, standards, and lessons learned.

  • Fosters positive and collaborative win-win relationships with external stakeholders, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.

  • Plays a consultative role to help put the appropriate people, processes, and tools in place to enable effective project management and success.

  • Monitors project close-out feedback and ensures identification, communication, and future application of lessons learned and best practices.

  • Works in partnership with the PPM of Construction QC and Coordination and project team to deliver comprehensive post-mortem reports for each project for close-out document of record.

Professional / Project Management Knowledge:

  • Expert ability to prepare and drive project development schedules

  • Expert ability to organize and monitor concurrent projects, keeping the team on track financially, creatively, and in accordance with stakeholder deadlines

  • Advanced ability to work with design consultants to facilitate design development drawings and construction drawings

  • Advanced understanding of retail grocery and food service equipment and infrastructure requirements.

  • Advanced understanding of WFMs project management methodologies and requirements.

  • Advanced capability to oversee and advise on project management issues and assist with overcoming barriers

  • Advanced proficiency with project management software, such as SharePoint, MS Project, Smartsheets, and Procore

  • Strong knowledge of Whole Foods Market brand integrity

  • Demonstrates exceptional knowledge of the WFM product mix, supply base, and retail operations.

Education & Experience:

  • BA/BS degree and 6-8 years relevant experience OR equivalent education and relevant experience.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

  • Ability to physically perform general office requirements, as well as those required on construction site.

  • Must be able to perform essential responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodations.

  • Ability to travel to project sites across the enterprise is required. This position may require up to 80% travel
