This is a rare opportunity to build a new product from the ground up. Containers are fundamentally redefining application development and deployment while disrupting traditional infrastructure business models. This role will help build a new product that has the potential to have a significant impact for all of AWS.

The Container Services organization is responsible for building and operating fundamental services to customers run containerized applications on AWS, including Amazon ECS, AWS Fargate, Amazon EKS, Amazon ECR, and AWS App Mesh. We have an ambitious roadmap that seeks to redefine how our customers build their applications and run them at scale.

BS in Computer Science or engineering discipline related to software development.

10+ years in a product management role at software developer focused company or an enterprise

Operate with minimal supervision and strong ownership

Masters degree in a technical field or MBA preferred

Principal Software Engineer - Container Platforms - Kubernetes What You'll Do: * Develop and support Walmart's massive Kubernetes platform across public, private and edge computing environments. * Build tools to help 5,000+ Walmart engineers take code from commit to production safely and quickly. * Build tools to help Walmart engineers unlock the power of cloud native technologies and techniques (autoscaling, canary deployments, service mesh and more). * Directs root cause analysis of critical business and production issues. * Lead and direct large-scale, complex, cross-functional projects. * Lead the design and overall architecture of the platform * Be a technical lead and drive the team towards building a highly scalable and performing Container platform * Mentors the team members and helps in enhancing team's productivity * Brings new technology ideas for product enhancement * Promotes and supports company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity. If You Are: * Eager to work on the line between Software Engineering and System Engineering. * Curious and a step ahead when it comes to software trends. * Natural leader who takes ownership of the team's deliverables. * Willing to take responsibility for running a critical part of our infrastructure. * Technical leader to solve a highly scalable, reliable and performance challenges in cloud platform What you need to be successful in the role: * Minimum of 4-6 years of experience at a startup, or mid to large sized corporation is required. * Possess good oral and written communication skills. * Have advanced working knowledge in one of the following languages: Go (preferred) - Java (preferred) or other modern programming languages. * Working knowledge in container and cloud native technologies - Kubernetes, Docker, other * Prior experience developing or working with Cloud technologies such as Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, or OpenStack is highly desired. * Prior experience developing or working with CI/CD or GitOps systems is highly desired.
