As Principal Hardware Product Manager for Kindle e-readers, you help define and build hardware products for Kindle e-reader devices. You will drive new features that deeply integrate hardware, software, and services. You will help create and drive the strategy, vision, and roadmap, with a high degree of ownership over critical features and the customer experience. This role is inherently cross-functional - you will work closely with engineering, design, operations, finance, and executive teams to bring features and products to market, and grow business opportunities. A successful candidate will be highly analytical, able to work extremely effectively in a matrix organization, and adept at synthesizing a variety of technologies and capabilities into products and applications that customers love. We are looking for someone customer obsessed and technology savvy - with a passion for consumer devices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and define Kindle e-reader products with both hardware and software components

  • Work closely with management, design, operations, finance, and engineering leadership to develop and deliver innovative consumer products

  • Develop detailed business requirements that can be used to create product specifications and design

You will join a team of highly skilled Product Security engineers that specialize in security research, penetration testing, and creative tool development focusing on data security, systems hardening, DevSecOps, penetration testing, threat and vulnerability management and security intelligence across network, infrastructure, tools, platforms and product layers. We evaluate a broad range of technologies including distributed processing, virtualized environments and isolation of unsecure code. As Program Manager of Product Security at Equinix you will lead, expand and drive implementation the security policies, procedures, controls and offerings across our products, tools, platforms and infrastructure and databases to enable Equinix to be the market leader with value-added, category of one and differentiated security features in its products. This includes all of our products and Equinix SmartKey offerings. Your passion for security, ability to connect with and inspire your team, ability to deliver complex go-lives that involve working in a complex ecosystem of multi-functional teams and in-depth knowledge of Product Security will ensure that you deliver high impact results. Responsibilities * Building security into the agile development process, developing new ways to get security content to the community * Driving automation to validate consistency to security development lifecycle and Operational Security requirements * Work across multiple teams in Security and across Equinix to coordinate and integrate with other community and content related initiatives * Produce and drive virtual and in-person customer/partner engineering sessions to increase the customer and partner voice in the design process * Define success metrics. Collect, analyze and understand data. Use the data to inspire changes and improvements * Evaluate and quantify feedback from customers, partners and other internal critical internal partners. * Convert security prototypes and POCs into delivery and go-live plans across Equinix ecosystem of products and systems * Create and communicate to customers, auditors and other security partners a compelling narrative about our products' security architecture * Explain our implementation of security controls to customers' auditors * Developing project timelines for ongoing system upgrades * Work closely with CTO Office, product development, product engineering and Info Sec on various program management, product management, strategy, vision and roadmap aspects of product security * Assist with incident response when a security event occurs * Monitor CVEs of open-source software to quickly provide hot-fixes affecting Equinix products * Implement tools and development processes to reduce vulnerabilities in shipped products * Develop security KPI/metrics to track security issues and severity, along with time-to-resolution * Assist with responsible disclosure and bug bounty programs * Guide the Engineering organization's security and privacy initiatives by leading design reviews and threat modeling sessions * Cultivate a culture whereby security considerations are integral to product decisions and implementations Requirements: * Ability to ramp on our security technologies and comfortable presenting it internally and to customers and partners * Strong collaboration and in cross-teaming skills * Desire and eagerness to help customers successfully deploy our technologies * Comfortable working autonomously in a fast-paced environment where new challenges exist around every corner * Strong communication skills * Comfortable and experience in working with customers and partners * Strong prioritization, time management and organizational skills * Ability to take on complex systems and processes and drive simplification and improvements * Self-starter, who can deal with ambiguity, maintains focus, works towards clarity and provides innovative solutions * Extensive experience in information security and/or IT risk management with a focus on security, performance and reliability * Ability to interact with a broad cross-section of personnel to explain and enforce security measures * Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as an eye for business and a commercial outlook * Demonstrated success and influence in the Product Security space * Experience defining security policy, technology requirements, and control objectives * Demonstrated experience crafting effective security strategies * Write defensive, maintainable code that solves real-world problems for our users * Previously held security role in professional environment * Has software engineering experience in production environment * Understanding of industry and regulatory security requirements, e.g., PCI-DSS, GDPR * Understanding of security control frameworks, e.g., NIST * Knowledge of a broad-spectrum range of attack vectors, exploits and mitigations * B.S./M.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related experience * Passion for finding flaws in software and can effectively communicate how to fix them * Ability to find creative ways of reducing risk of inherently insecure efforts * Ability to prioritize and track multiple projects in parallel * 10+ years of relevant experience in security architecture and design EOE/M/F/Vet/Disability Equinix, Inc.
