Job Description:

As a Product Engineer at MACOM Technology Solutions, you will be a key team member of the New Product Development Engineering team responsible for the release of a diverse portfolio of microwave semiconductor products from MHZ to 50GHz+, targeting Satcom, Communications, Test and Measurement, Aerospace and Defense, and general use applications into mass production. The Product Engineer's role includes the development of production tests plans to verify product performance, the design and debug of RF test boards for automated test equipment and the statistical analysis of data using sound statistical methodology in order to set test limits and datasheet specifications. To accomplish these tasks, the Product Engineer will interact closely with Design Engineering, Test Engineering, Applications, Marketing, and Reliability Engineering to analyze and resolve issues, as they relate to sample, pre-production and full production release of a product. You will work with internal and offshore test facilities to release products to production. A strong semiconductor product characterization and test background and the ability to collaborate with multiple engineering disciplines at different geographical location worldwide are essential to the success of this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Generate production tests plans to verify product performance

  • Generate product datasheets

  • Design/analyze RF & microwave test boards for automated test equipment

  • Set up and perform lab RF measurements

  • Conduct measurement systems analysis (gauge R&R)

  • Analyze data using sound statistical methodology

  • Perform yield analysis and hold meetings of the project team to review the findings

  • Ensure all aspects of product manufacturing, including hardware, documentation, BOMs and costing are in place for the production release of a product

  • Ensure new product introduction is successful and on schedule

Job Qualifications:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
  • Masters degree is a plus
  • More than 7 years of experience as a Product or Test Engineer in the semiconductor field

  • Knowledge of a wide range of RF/microwave and optical semiconductor products including amplifiers, attenuators, and RF modules.

  • Strong RF/microwave and optical test and measurement skills

  • Experience in the characterization of semiconductor devices

  • Ability to analyze data using sound statistical methodology and effectively present technical information

  • Exceptional team and communication skills to interface with internal cross-functional teams and subcontractors

Your Impact * High focus on overall design, manufacturability, serviceability and usability for Consumer PAN Products * Drive Mechanical, ID and ODM counterpart teams * Collaborate in a hardware organization with board design engineers to meet critical space, thermal, cost, and usability requirements * Collaborate cross-functionally and maintain productive relationships with engineering, compliance, product management, manufacturing engineering, materials and planning teams * Promote a healthy working environment with strong focus on individual career development. * Develop and maintain new design processes to ensure product design quality in fast pace working environment * Support accessory, enclosure and packaging commodity teams to ensure mechanical engineering team early engagement Your Experience * 10+ years in hardware development (networking products a plus) * Bachelors or master's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience * Excellent understanding of product design development and testing processes * Demonstrated design experience integrating component modules (I/O, PCBs, Antennas, etc.) * Experience designing thermal management solutions for consumer products * Experience in design and manufacturing processes of volume manufacturing with high-quality finishes including: sheet metal, plastics, machined parts, 3D printing, die-cast, and extrusions * Experience in Tolerance Analysis and Statistical Process Control (SPC, Cp, CpK) * Experience with NX, PTC Creo, Solidworks or similar CAD system * Experience working with component vendors and contract manufacturers * Knowledge of DFM/DFA, Design for Cost for both low to high volume products * Demonstrated experience with GD&T drawing standards for 2D documentation * Experience with BOMs and Revision Control documentation in a PLM tool such as Arena/Agile * Analytic problem solving skills, including knowledge of 8D, Six Sigma, DOE or similar disciplines * Experience using thermal simulation software in consumer electronics a plus * Experience in working with ODM or JDM with both domestic and/or offshore partners * Verbal and written communication skills to work with multi-functional groups * Teammate who brings a can-do attitude to a dynamic working environment * This position may require domestic and international travel The Team Our team designs and builds hardware devices, networking technologies, software, and services for delivering on customer needs and wants, innovating with opinion to anticipate customer requirements.
