Principal Product Designer

As a Principal Product Designer, you will represent Cvent as the most senior design position on our team. Principals consistently demonstrate thought leadership through meaningful and innovative design solutions. They are driven to make significant impacts to the evolution of our product experiences.
What You Will Be Doing
Principal Product Designers balance strategical initiatives with tactical design tasks. They must build a solid understanding of the platform and show a relentless desire in shaping our product direction. Principals also lead our experiences by impacting our information architecture, interaction design, and user research on medium to large sized projects. They are independent, critical thinkers who work well leading projects but also collaborate strongly with other team members in UX, product management, and engineering.
In addition, you will:
Manage complex and sophisticated requirements independently. Be proactive in requirements analysis and determining the best for our users.
Embrace change and identify ambiguity as an opportunity for design to lead product development with new features and user goals.
Design for broad user base with multiple personas and scenarios. Dive into existing user research, metrics and balance with intuition and sensibility.
Collaborate with User Research to prioritize and plan research as part of the design approach.
Facilitate design sprints, studios, and other long-form workshops that incorporate UX and non-UX participants.
Understands how data flows between products and experiences. Optimizes the IA for a seamless platform experience.
Embrace and adopt our product design system - UX standards, best practices, styles, patterns and guidelines - as well as contribute to it by introducing emerging design techniques and their appropriate usage.
Mentor and guide junior designers and their work within your projects.
What You Need for this Position
Bachelor's degree in HCI, Design, or a related field with equivalent experience.
8+ years of experience as a UX professional at a technology company or agency.
Expert in design, presentation, and prototyping tools (e.g., Sketch and InVision).
An understanding of user research methodologies.
Deep understanding of responsive and adaptive design approaches
Nice To Have
Experience conducting your own user research with prototypes.
Understanding of iOS, Android mobile design patterns
