The role:

As a Principal Designer, you will have an opportunity to imagine the future of personal finance, drive new initiatives, set a high standard for excellence across the design organization. You will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary set of stakeholders and leadership, often setting direction, strategy and feature architecture. You will work closely with designers at all levels to guide design decisions, develop deeper craft and design excellence, and support their growth through mentorship . Additionally, you'll be responsible for working horizontally to connect ideas across our larger product suite, ensuring a cohesive, well integrated member experience.

What you'll do:

  • Play a design architect role, setting design strategy and direction for the SoFi product experience.

  • Spearhead critical efforts in process, craft and execution on behalf of the Design Leadership team

  • Mentor, inspire, and grow members of the larger Design Organization

  • Collaborate directly with the Research & Design Leaders in all product areas to ensure consistent, complimentary experiences throughout the product line.

  • Model strong communication skills and ability to influence a diverse group of stakeholders. Leverage data and research investigations to build strong points of view on product direction.

What you'll need:

  • 10+ yrs experience working in product design/UX roles

  • Entrepreneurial mindset and passion for building a business

  • Able to effectively communicate design solutions to engineering, product, marketing, business, and executive leadership

  • Expert in best practices in UX, design and information architecture across iOS, Android and responsive web..

  • Experience with current design tools (Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.)

  • Strong collaboration and mentorship skills

  • Understanding of how to appropriately use data analytics, user testing and research to inform and validate design decisions

  • Experience working in an agile development environment using tools like Jira and Confluence

  • A portfolio URL or PDF to submit with application with examples of mobile and responsive web product design

Nice to have:

  • Experience working on personal finance or similar areas

  • Experience working within a company's growth & scaling phase

  • Experience shipping high quality & beloved software applications at scale

Compensation and Benefits

The base pay range for this role is listed below. Final base pay offer will be determined based on individual factors such as the candidate's experience, skills, and location.

Pay range: $182,400.00 - $313,500.00

Payment frequency: Annual
