At 23andMe, design plays a pivotal role in how people think about genetics, ancestry, health, and lifestyle. Considering every detail, you will help facilitate the creation of highly imaginative, intuitive, beautiful experiences and, above all else, experiences that empower individuals to gain insight into and take action on their personal genetic information. Our multidisciplinary design organization is looking for a Principle Platform Designer with a focus on interactive design, information architecture, and product cohesion.

What You'll Do

  • Advocate for the user
  • Understand the needs of the users, learn what's possible and challenge the impossible.
  • Collaborate
  • Simplify concepts into exciting and engaging experiences collaborating with your peers, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Lead
  • You will be a leader in design through best practices, attention to detail, and sometimes non-traditional thinking to ensure the impact of the work. You will help drive forward the overall design strategy and foster the design culture at 23andMe.
  • Execute
  • Work closely with the Design Director to develop and execute interactive systems, including but not limited to; accessibility, information architecture, user interface, animation, and end-to-end product lifecycle.
  • Communicate
  • Articulate recommendations and decisions through designs sketches, wireframes, high-fidelity comps, interactive prototypes, and specifications that improve the user experience, supporting design systems, various platforms and overall creative process.
  • Craft
  • Contribute to the design team's culture through never-ending curiosity, refinement, and excitement of our craft creatively transforming problems into additive solutions.

What You'll Bring

  • 5+ years of work experience in design with a proven ability to recognize and stay ahead of design trends.

  • A strong portfolio that demonstrates compelling interactive design work, showcasing a perspective on the creative process and aesthetic.

  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams delivering high-quality work while advocating for design, brand, research, and user experience continuity.

  • Proficiencies in one or more of the following software applications: Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, Figma, Principle, Unity, Xcode, and Cinema 4D.

  • Ability to pivot through creative problem-solving.

  • Genuine passion for health, science, and education.

  • Bachelor's Degree in HCI, Graphic Design, Media Arts or similar.

  • Experience working on other platforms like TV, Wearables, Hardware etc.

  • Prototyping or animation experience.

Pay Transparency

23andMe takes a market-based approach to pay, and amounts will vary depending on your geographic location. The salary range reflected here is for a candidate based in the San Francisco Bay Area. The successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

$209,200-$313,800 USD
