The Materials and Process Engineer will have deep level of understanding, creativity and curiosity about polymeric materials with a high degree of independence and resourcefulness in the application of advanced aerospace materials and processes.
The Engineer will develop new polymeric materials (adhesives, polymers, coatings, laminates, composites, rubber, elastomers and etc..) for both current and future applications. Additional responsibilities includes: supporting manufacturing process design and development from a materials prospective, verifying materials requirements, translating requirements into specifications, provide mentorship to product designers, provide technical assistance to Quality Assurance, failure analysis of materials, materials characterization and qualification, optimizing materials and processes to meet design requirements.
At least 8 years of related experience in materials engineering with hands-on process engineering experience
Understand the relation between manufacturing processes and the related defects in order to put appropriate quality controls in place
Knowledge of industry standards, design rules, capabilities and practices
Demonstrate technical leadership in developing materials and processes
Experienced in Design of Experiment, Statistical Process Controls, and be capable of applying statistical data analysis method to raw data set
Ability to manage multiple projects at a time and communicate plans and risks to management, customers and stakeholders.
Self-starter with the ability to evaluate emerging technologies and Project management
Ability to obtain a security clearance, with US Citizenship
Project management skills or certification
Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing principles and aerospace materials
Prior experience in DoD and/or Aerospace
This position requires a U.S. person or the ability to obtain an Export Authorization from the appropriate government agency for non-U.S. persons
