The Materials and Process Engineer will have deep level of understanding, creativity and curiosity about polymeric materials with a high degree of independence and resourcefulness in the application of advanced aerospace materials and processes.

The Engineer will develop new polymeric materials (adhesives, polymers, coatings, laminates, composites, rubber, elastomers and etc..) for both current and future applications. Additional responsibilities includes: supporting manufacturing process design and development from a materials prospective, verifying materials requirements, translating requirements into specifications, provide mentorship to product designers, provide technical assistance to Quality Assurance, failure analysis of materials, materials characterization and qualification, optimizing materials and processes to meet design requirements.

Required Skills:

  • At least 8 years of related experience in materials engineering with hands-on process engineering experience

  • Understand the relation between manufacturing processes and the related defects in order to put appropriate quality controls in place

  • Knowledge of industry standards, design rules, capabilities and practices

  • Demonstrate technical leadership in developing materials and processes

  • Experienced in Design of Experiment, Statistical Process Controls, and be capable of applying statistical data analysis method to raw data set

  • Ability to manage multiple projects at a time and communicate plans and risks to management, customers and stakeholders.

  • Self-starter with the ability to evaluate emerging technologies and Project management

  • Ability to obtain a security clearance, with US Citizenship

Desired Skills:

  • Project management skills or certification

  • Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing principles and aerospace materials

  • Prior experience in DoD and/or Aerospace

Required Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Chemical, Material Science, Mechanical) or higher
  • 8 years+ of experience in polymeric materials and process development

Desired Education:

  • Masters or Doctorate of Science in Engineering (Chemical, Material Science, Mechanical) or similar

This position requires a U.S. person or the ability to obtain an Export Authorization from the appropriate government agency for non-U.S. persons

The candidate will work in a high octane environment and work closely with an Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL) as their co-IPTL and CAM. The candidate must be comfortable working with on hardware technical technology to support the Airborne Radar Hardware Units such as Antenna, Receiver/Exciter, Power supply, and Processor. The applicant should have a broad background and understanding of the Airborne Hardware. The applicant will take a leadership role for production hardware engineering teams and provide technical oversight to the team members and provide path forward and guidance. The applicant will also lead programs in the capacity of Tier 1 or Tier II IPTL (Integrated Project Team Lead) and execute programs to meet program specifications within allocated cost and schedule. The Hardware production engineering team supports the Hardware delivery of Airborne RADAR system LRU (Line Replaceable Units) and the IPTL/CAM will interface with the Chief engineer and program office on the Airborne RADAR systems during production phase and unit/system sell off. The Candidate will prepare and manage man-power loading across the period of performance, lead investigation, test performance and cost trade-offs during the production phase of the program. Report weekly EVMS and analyze EVMS to evaluate performance of the program and take necessary actions to keep program within cost & schedule while identifying and mitigating program risks. Work with program manager and functional management to align staffing needs with appropriation of assignments. Prepare and present Program Performance, Variance analysis, Estimate of cost to complete and other reports for periodic meetings. Candidate should have strong leadership and be able to effectively manage technical staff for successful execution of programs, while maintaining and developing positive team dynamics.
