About Us:

Our world is becoming increasingly more autonomous by the day with the introduction of self-driving cars, autonomous drones, and package delivery robots. However, the moment these autonomous machines run out of power, they become useless and a person needs to intervene to recharge the machine. Battery anxiety affects nearly every class of products ranging from off-grid sensors, to mobile electronics and field deployed machines.

Optivolt Labs is creating an era of self-charging machines by providing a scalable & optimized technology stack for solar integration. Optivolt provides efficient power transfer systems, solar developer & simulation tools, and cloud based APIs to enable fleets of machines (e-scooters, EVs, drones, sensors, smartphones, & other connected devices) to self-charge in ambient light. We are a group of inventors and technologists that are relentlessly working on filling the deep technology gaps in photovoltaic energy harvesting to accelerate humanitys transition to clean, sustainable, self-charging technology.

You will be responsible for:

  • Developing modular and adaptable reference designs for dc power electronics
  • Conducting research on application-specific topics in dc power electronics and device self-charging
  • Writing technical whitepapers for past, present, and future Optivolt self-charging and power electronics development projects
  • Supporting the development of design automation, optimization, and verification software for dc power electronics
  • Supporting the development of automated testing and verification tools for dc power electronics and application-specific photovoltaic self-charging integrations
  • Documenting intellectual property created during electronics development projects (may include provisional patent drafting)

Requirements

Person needs to have:

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related engineering field
  • 2 years minimum project or work experience in power electronics, electrical design, electronics design or related field
  • Interest in working for a fast-growing, early stage startup

Person is preferred to have:

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Printed circuit board layout experience
  • Embedded systems experience
  • 10+ years of work experience in power electronics or related field
  • 5+ years of experience directing and/or conducting research in power electronics or related field
  • 5+ patents as an inventor or co-inventor

Benefits

Compensation: $120k - 160k/yr

Equity: 0.2 - 0.75%

We are a group of inventors and technologists that are relentlessly working on filling the deep technology gaps in photovoltaic energy harvesting to accelerate humanity’s transition to clean, sustainable, self-charging technology. </p> <p>You will be responsible for:</p><ul> <li>Developing software tools for generative design, simulation, and optimization of DC power electronics on top of existing open-source eCAD API’s</li> <li>Assisting in documenting and organizing design rules from application-specific power systems to support the development of future design software tools</li> <li>Developing software tools for performance simulation and fleet management of self-charging device fleets in various environments</li> <li>Managing remote contractor teams to build demo-ready front-end UIs for design and simulation tools</li> <li>Participating in design and development meetings with the hardware team, with a focus on promoting automation in development workflow, and on finding creative software solutions to difficult hardware problems</li> </ul><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><p>Person needs to have:</p><ul> <li>B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related engineering field</li> <li>2 years minimum project or work experience (back-end development)</li> <li>Interest in working for a fast-growing, early stage startup</li> <li>Solid understanding of core engineering math and physics</li> </ul> <p>Person is preferred to have:</p><ul> <li>M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Science or related field</li> <li>Experience working with engineering or GIS software APIs</li> <li>Exposure to robotics and/or automation</li> </ul><p><strong>Benefits</strong></p><p>Compensation: $120k -160k/yr</p><p>Equity: 0.2-0.5%</p> 1871 Member Companies Burlingame CA
