Job Summary

The Principal of Education Programs supervises Teachers and Teacher Specialists in CSB's Education Programs. In addition, the Principal of Education Programs provides leadership and strategic planning for the development and implementation of CSB's Elementary, Middle School, and Mainstream Programs.

The Principal of Education Programs oversees the development and implementation of appropriate IEPs and ITPs for students ages 6 to 22, and oversees CSB's sports program. Serves as a member of the CSB Cabinet. The Principal of Education Programs reports directly to the CSB Site Superintendent. Refer to the Duty Statemen for additional information.

Requirements / Qualifications

Required Qualifications • Master's Degree in education or related field • Must possess a valid clear Education Specialist Instruction Credential with an Authorization in Visual Impairments or a Clinical or Rehabilitative Services Credential with an Authorization in Orientation and Mobility • Must possess a valid Preliminary or Clear California Administrative Services Credential (preferred), or be qualified and willing to enroll in an administrative internship program within the first year of appointment, must obtain a valid preliminary or clear California Administrative Services Credential within two years of appointment. • Minimum five years of experience working with students with blindness, other sensory impairments, and/or multiple disabilities. Desired Qualifications • Ability to work collaboratively within a management team as well as with a wide range of stakeholders. • Dynamic, forward-thinking leader who is constantly seeking to improve programs. • Experience as a program supervisor, principal, or program specialist with oversight responsibilities of educational and/or transitional programs for students with blindness, other sensory impairments, and/or multiple disabilities. • Experience developing and evaluating educational programs for students ages 6 to 22. • Experience working as a classroom teacher with students with visual impairments and additional disabilities. • Experience with and understanding of Common Core Academic Standards and the Expanded Core Curriculum. • Experience supervising teachers, paraprofessionals, and/or a variety of service providers to promote interdepartmental cooperation and efficiency. • Experience working with local school districts and families to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) & Individualized Transition Plans (ITPs), including facilitating IEP meetings, writing comprehensive, measurable, and appropriate IEP & ITP goals, objectives, and completing legally-compliant IEP paperwork.
