What you'll be doing...

You will be part of the fiber access engineering solutions team responsible for developing engineering solutions which will positively impact efficiency and acceleration of the critical One Fiber/ODN and iEN programs. This will give you the opportunity to work hand in hand with the CORE and Access engineering teams, Information Technology, and other internal organizations leveraging agile methodologies to accomplish goals quickly.

  • Lead cross functional teams (engineering, IT, operations and other peer business units) in driving positive results for multiple activities related to the strategic wireline network initiatives.

  • Lead the development and implementation of internal process and standardization initiatives.

  • Lead OSS integration and process improvement and transformation, as well as provide subject matter expertise to define OSS strategy.

  • Provide support and direction for the integration of companywide, standard processes.

  • Provide technical solutions to engineering, including process and training documentation.

  • Provide training via different mediums to impacted organizations.

  • Develop network initiatives and lead projects to accelerate our scale to 5G and other strategic initiatives.

  • Coordinate and lead UAT testing efforts.

What we're looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

  • Experience with large scale IT systems.

  • Willingness to travel.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.

  • Ten or more years in Network Engineering, access /transport implementation/network creation, operations or planning.

  • Five or more years of planning and/or designing telecommunications networks. (CAD, IDDS/ICGS, FIM, 3GIS).

  • ESRI or equivalent geospatial design environment experience, certifications, etc.

  • PMP certification.

  • SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) certifications.

  • Experience in one or more ISP (inside plant) /OSP (outside plant) network engineering disciplines including, but not limited to: IOF, Access, and Data.

  • Leadership experience of cross functional teams.

  • Capability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced, ever changing environment.

  • Ability to be a highly technical & strategic thought leader as well as a "hands on" implementer

  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction.

  • Ability to coordinate multiple initiatives with competing objectives.

  • Experience with Engineering Inventory & Provisioning systems.

  • Experience creating Process documentation (M&P) and Process flows.

  • Experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio or iGrafx or other business process mapping tools.

  • Knowledge of relational databases.

  • Experience in an Agile Environment with an understanding of roles.

  • Experience creating UAT test plan & scripts.

  • Experience with ODN/FTTP design engineering systems and processes including MxU design.

  • Mobile application development and implementation.

Job Description Overview As a member of the Vistra Energy Network, Security & Voice Services team, the Network & Firewall Principal System Engineer will be responsible for maintaining the design and integrity of Vistra's internal network, including customer-facing hosted and cloud environment. The PSE will perform the necessary planning, analysis and design tasks related to the development of an overall network architecture for Vistra. The PSE Security Architect will partner and work closely with key strategic vendors, service providers as well as IT application solution architects to plan, design &/or challenge the security of the application architecture approaches that support cross-functional business needs and align with longer term best practice standards and viable technology roadmaps. Responsibilities * Hands-on experience and a thorough understanding of routing protocols specifically BGP, OSPF and EIGRP. * In depth knowledge of IP networks based on multi-vendor environments is required including Cisco (routing & switching) and Palo Alto (security). * Enterprise network support, architecture, design, and implementation * Design and configuration of Virtual Private Networks (VPN) connected through Enterprise WAN * Corporate network support, architecture, design, and implementation * Consultation on internal customer network design requests * Creates and maintains standards surrounding documentation related to network and security processes, procedure and infrastructure. * Assists various IT departments with design, implementation and troubleshooting of network and security technologies. * Provide network and security guidance and requirements to technology teams when no solution is currently available Establish network & security architecture best suited to support business applications * Assist with change management procedures related to network & security infrastructure * Produce monthly metric reports on network & security performance * Manage and act as a contact for network & security related vendors * Ensure service level agreements align with business expectations * Lead projects in terms of requirements gathering, scope determination, budget and schedule management * Establish, document and maintain technical requirements for network positions, processes for network & security problem reporting/resolution as well as plans for disaster recovery and business continuity * Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership of new and different requests Requirements * BS or BA degree in business, information systems, computer science, system analysis with an emphasis in information technology. * 4+ years of dedicated network & security experience with Palo Alto Networks * 4+ years of network and/or security administration experience or equivalent combination of work and educational experiences. * 4+ years designing and implementing network and/or security solutions. * Experience working with Payment Card Industry (PCI) and Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) regulations. * Current Palo Alto Attributed Certified Engineer (ACE) * Advanced knowledge of network and security technologies and concepts.
