Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Principal Mission Assurance Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Melbourne, FL.

This position supports the development, modification and application of the engineering assurance/quality principles and processes for the purpose of reducing and/or eliminating escapes or omissions linked to design early in the lifecycle to ensure design integrity and robustness while maintaining efficiency. This role provides Engineering Assurance/Quality Engineering support to Engineering, Manufacturing, Program Management, System Test and many other functions to ensure that quality standards are met.

This position includes verifying test setups and reviewing test procedures to ensure validation of requirements. Candidate must also support various design reviews and testing processes, mechanisms, systems integration and requirements verification. He/she must have skills in performing root cause/corrective action (RCCA).

This job function also provides support to various subcontract management teams in managing the quality aspects of supplier qualification. Candidate will review supplier documentation to verify compliance to quality standards and contractual requirements as they pertain to the equipment being procured. This position requires good organizational and leadership skills to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and to work closely with the IPT leaders and design engineers.

Having a background in Material Review Board (MRB) and laboratory operations is preferred.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) with 5 years of experience in Quality Assurance or related field OR a Masters Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) with 3 years of experience in Quality Assurance or related field

  • Have and Active DoD secret security clearance that has been investigated within the last 6 years, In-Scope.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong Organizational and Leadership Skills

  • Experience with Supplier Engagement

  • Experience with Root Cause/Corrective Action

  • Experience with Material Review Board

  • Experience with Laboratory Operations

This individual will oversee a multi-faceted team that ensures mission success in a variety of roles and responsibilities: * Interfaces with Integrated Product Teams and their respective Subcontract Management Teams to support suppliers through qualification, startup of manufacturing, and first article * Provides internal & external Material Review Board (MRB) support * Mission Assurance support to the startup, build up and testing in laboratory environment * Provides the operational infrastructure for the Strike Program Quality homeroom and direct support for the Mission Assurance Program Director and Manager * Serves in an advisory to the Technical Discipline Lead for Engineering Assurance, which is chartered to provide a Quality mindset early in the program lifecycle * Oversees the continuous improvement of the people, process, and tools required to execute the Engineering Assurance statement of work Basic Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university with a Minimum of 7 years of Mission Assurance with a minimum of 2 years of experience at the management level. * Active DoD Secret clearance or higher that has been investigated within the last 6 years and the ability to gain special program access. * Experience in the root cause/corrective action (RCCA) process and incident investigation Preferred Qualifications: * Proficient in the Earned Value Management System – cost account manager (CAM) Northrop Grumman is committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
