Job Description:

The purpose of this position is to work with Research and Development cross-functional teams to advance contact lens designs through project stages, from research through product launch.

  • Provides direct support to Vision Care contact lens projects as a core or sub-team member

  • Develops designs using state-of-the-art mechanical and opto-mechanical design systems and methods

  • Collaborates with peers, third party suppliers and internal customers to define design specifications and tolerances

  • Collaborates with Lens Metrology group to define and develop methods

  • Collaborates with the R&D team to advance new contact lens designs through project stages, including transfer to Supply Chain

  • Develops and manages contact lens design documentation to support product registration

  • Performs technology landscape assessments, selection of enabling technologies and management of third party suppliers

  • Effectively collaborates with Project Heads, functional managers, Mechanical/Technical Ops and cross-franchise SMEs to support R&D targets and project milestones.

Thism Opto-Mechanical Engineer will advance metrology capabilities to meet project needs from inception of research through product launch. Major Accountabilities: * Provides direct support to Vision Care contact lens projects as a core or sub-team member * Develops new metrology tools and methods using state-of-the-art opto-mechanical design methods * Collaborates with peers, 3rd party suppliers and internal customers to define metrology requirements, design metrology methods (either based on existing metrology systems or by adopting new technology ) * Collaborates with Lens Design group to define and develop metrology in support of new lens designs * Collaborates with R&D and manufacturing engineering teams to deploy new metrology tools and methods to Supply Chain * Works with QA and Validation groups to qualify and validate new metrology tools/methods for GxP applications * Performs technology landscape assessments, selection of enabling technologies and management of 3rd party suppliers * Performs root cause analysis and problem solving for metrology related issue both in R&D and manufacturing in support of new product development Key Performance Indicators Include: * Ability to design and develop innovative metrology tools and methods. * Use of opto-mechanical and optic design skills to support contact lens projects * Effective collaboration with Project Heads, Functional Managers, MTO, and cross-franchise SMEs in order to support R&D targets and project milestones.
