Position Overview:

Contribute by working as part of NPI development teams bring new products to market on time within budget and specifications. Work as a core team member on product development process for the (Resto & Endo) platform teams. Responsible for all of the Operations deliverables at each phase of the Toll Gate product development phases.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Expected to lead as a design core team member of the (DFM) Design for Manufacturing of electro-mechanical assemblies.

  • Be accountable for key operations related deliverables within the (APD) process including but not limited to Mfg. Plan; Make/Buy decisions analysis/recommendation, Capacity Planning, COGS estimation, Process Validation, Prototype Builds, Capital Equipment Specifications, Contract Supplier selection and Automation.

  • In addition, the responsibilities will include the application of Six Sigma and LEAN to identify, validate and improve defect sources in a variety of business processes.

  • Apply risk management methodologies such as DFMEA and PFMEA to identify actions that can be taken to eliminate or reduce the potential causes leading to failures.

  • Be required to adhere to SOP's and have the ability to prepare written policies, procedures, proposals, and reports in accordance with GMP/FDA/ISO-13485 guidelines and regulations.

  • Support the development of product reliability assessment tools and methods.

The Candidate Should Possess:

  • Working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office suite including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

  • Proficiency at the use in the "Failure Mode and Effects Analysis" tool.

Job Requirements



  • A minimum of 8+ years of experience in DFM , Electro mechanical design and NPI .

  • Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering or related engineering degree.


  • Advanced knowledge of 3-D Solid Modeling, Solid-Works preferred.

  • Experienced in a regulated industry preferred.


  • The ability and willingness to travel internationally.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to present ideas, project status, and conclusions to individuals at all levels of the company.

  • Ability to think spontaneously and creatively at an advanced level.

  • Team player able to positively interact within a cross functional team.

  • A "Can Do Attitude."

Overview: Under limited direction, performs a variety of progressively complex duties related to rail system safety programs, employee safety, hazard mitigation, regulatory training, and program evaluation for the OC Streetcar. Directs and oversees all regulatory compliance programs in accordance with the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), Cal/OSHA, and all other oversight agencies. Provides expertise in resolving OC Streetcar rail system safety issues. * Inspects and verifies agency compliance with safety and health policies/regulations; recommends and ensures refinements are implemented. * Leads committee efforts and meetings related to OC Streetcar rail system safety, employee safety, public safety, and fleet safety. * Reports OC Streetcar accidents or incidents to governmental agencies in accordance with regulatory mandates; submits required reports, plans and all required documentation in a timely manner. * Tracks and manages OCTA's National Transit Database (NTD) reporting requirements. Qualifications Any combination of education or experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree with a minimum of seven years related experience (ten years preferred), in Rail Systems that may include operations and/or maintenance, of which three years (five years preferred) reflect direct involvement in health and safety regulatory compliance activities. Prior experience in regulatory compliance oversight, worker training, risk assessment strategies, worksite evaluation, field auditing, preventative and corrective action identification, and hazard mitigation is highly desirable. A related Master's degree is desirable. Knowledge of: * Industry safety practices and regulatory experience with the FTA, CPUC, Cal/OSHA, Federal OSHA, Orange County Healthcare Agency, Fire Code, Building Code, National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health codes, etc. * Newly proposed rail safety regulations under implementation by the FTA, to include, but not limited to; Moving Ahead for Progress (MAP 21) initiatives. * Safety Management System (SMS) development, implementation, and maintenance. Application of such program in the passenger rail industry. * Principles of employee protection. * Risk assessment and mitigation strategies. * Corrective and preventative action identification and implementation. * Methods of developing and presenting health and safety training. * Health and safety products and hazard control/mitigation techniques. * General chemistry, safety engineering, and industrial hygiene principles. * Principles and methods of incident investigations, job hazard analyses, hazard mitigation. * Emergency response planning and responsibilities. * Best practices and networking affiliations with safety and health service organizations. * Computer applications proficiency utilizing desktop software (Office Suite) and database applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access, etc. * Project management techniques. * Principles and techniques of business communication, including written, verbal and training methods. * Effective presentation strategies.
