Principal Insurance Industry Marketing Manager, Global Marketing Practice

Summary

Uses their extensive business domain knowledge and networks to drive strategic industry marketing and sales enablement in the Global Insurance market. The Industry Marketer creates and delivers credible and unique viewpoints to differentiate SAS in the market. Works with product management, field marketing, global alliances and sales units to enable regional marketing, channels and product readiness and sales enablement. The Marketer creates positioning and messaging and content for the insurance market to support web properties and customer facing collateral. Seen as a thought-leader and acts as a SAS for Insurance spokesperson with external audiences including SAS clients, industry analysts, and press.. Candidates must demonstrate exceptional communication skills with an advanced understanding of decision support and operational software systems used in the Insurance market.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provides Insurance domain support to lead the development of messaging and positioning and supports web properties and collateral development. Supports field and regional marketing with messaging and content. Defines buyer personas, end users and target audience profiles. Articulates product capabilities into terms of the customer's business problem in the insurance industry.

  • Develops and maintains relationships with influential thought leaders, analysts, consultants and partners to support awareness activities.

  • Expected to drive thought leadership activities including articles, whitepapers, blogs, speaking engagements and involvement with key 3rd party organizations and SAS event marketing.

  • Understands the emerging trends in the target markets and drives the creation of key messages and stories to support decision makers and users.

  • Is technically capable to interact with IT personas as well as line of business executives. Understands how SAS technologies and capabilities can bring value to the industry's most pressing challenges.

  • Serves as primary spokesperson for external audiences in area of responsibility.

  • Supports sales enablement, and practice teams through customer engagements including EBC visits.

  • Can identify existing and emerging industry trends and can articulate SAS' position regarding these trends and issues.

  • Participates with marketing leadership to identify and establish objectives and goals to reach objectives in area of responsibility.

  • Partners with internal teams to gather and analyze the impact and performance of content and programs in the insurance industry.

  • Supports regional demand generation activities in support of the industry and in line with the overall customer journey.

  • Identifies competitor advances in the market and can work with internal parties to drive competitive approaches/responses

  • Responsible for content for external web and printed collateral. Strong writing skills including the ability to translate technical information into simple, audience-appropriate language.

  • Active member within key industry associations, societies, groups, etc.

  • Performs other duties, as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Exercises independent judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise.

  • Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate activities of other personnel (Team Lead).

  • Having broad expertise or unique knowledge, uses skills to contribute to development of company objectives and principles and to achieve goals in creative and effective ways. Barriers to entry such as divisional leadership review exist at this level.

  • Promotions to this job level require considerable experience and contributions, excellent performance, and a business need for this level/type of work. It may also require a committee review and senior executive endorsement.

Education and Experience Required

  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Business, Marketing, Computer Science, or related discipline.

  • Typically requires twelve years of experience in Marketing, Sales, Consulting or related function in the technology industry, preferably in product marketing (experience in a specific domain {industry, technology, or solution} directly related to area of assignment may be used to satisfy this requirement).

The Global Marketing Lead, Care Communications is a member of the Patient Support Systems (PSS) business unit Global Marketing leadership team with responsibility for all upstream marketing aspects for the rapidly growing and expanding Care Communications portfolio (nurse call, mobile communications, real-time locating systems, patient engagement, etc.). This is a highly visible, role and will manage a team of marketing professionals responsible for leading the development and execution of the global product portfolio strategy which encompasses thought leadership, new product development, product life cycle management, strategic pricing, branding, market access and development, geographic expansion and overall growth strategies. This is completed by obtaining input, insights and alignment with customers, market research, sales, commercial marketing, R&D, business development, operations, strategic marketing, sourcing and external integration partners. S/he will manage multiple, highly-visible initiatives and cross-functional trade-offs is critical to maximize global investments and overall success. Reporting Relationships The Global Marketing Lead, Care Communications reports directly to the Vice President, Global Marketing, Smart Beds, Monitoring, Mobility & Communications within the Patient Support Systems (PSS) business unit. S/he will have 5 direct reports and a complete team of approximately 12. Basic Function and Principal Responsibilities Drive the overall the development and execution of the long-term global portfolio strategy including: Leads the overall definition/development of portfolio strategies and roadmap to drive market development, address market needs and achieve above-market revenue and share growth. Collaboratives effectively with global regions and the CMO organization in the development and execution of product launch and country plans to achieve category leadership In collaboration with our strategic marketing director, identifies new business growth opportunities within or adjacent to our current offerings through a detailed understanding of key market/industry/competitor/customer trends, market potential for the right segment/targets and competitor strategies. Develops strategic business plan capitalizing on future market needs and opportunities.
